I am thinking of trying acupuncture or reflexology (or both together) to try and help me, I have heard some good stories but was thinking is it even worth me asking the consultants advice as surely they don't 'believe' in alternative/holistic treatments do they?

I had accupunture at my last ICSI cycle and I found it really helped. I went to a specialist in fertility and she had worked with Zita West. She put me at ease and I felt a lot calmer. She did it at a particular time in the cycle and in special places, its suppose to make the blood flow making a nice thick lining for the embie to embed into, mine was very thick just a shame it didn't work this time.

    Good luck!

they r very complicated as no 2 couples r the same, what all clinics do say is the first 3 ivfs have an equal chance of working, when u get to 4 then the odds drop.

Saying that i know off people in the ivf world that have fallen on 5, 6, 7, and even 9th attempt.
I'm looking into what the american ladies use, after the ivf, instead of pessaries they injections to keep the progesterone levels level. I've emailed my consultant to see if we can have that as an option rather than the pessaries.

Those pessaries are so messy and uncomfortable.

I never had to use those pessaries in my ICSI treatment, I think I had the injection.

Well AF got me on Saturday, three days early so as we are fast approaching 6 months since the erpc from my mmc and 15 months total since we started ttc I have phoned and made an appointment to see the doctor this afternoon.

I have a feeling that they are not going to be very helpful as generally they don't tend to be at my doctors. I also have a feeling the first thing they are going to say to me is that I need to lose weight (as if I'm not already trying).

Just thought that I should go and voice my concerns so they are down on my records at least.

Should I take print outs of my charts with me to show the doctor?

Good luck with the appt Fairy Shazza - take everything that you feel is relevant. Try and make sure that you have a clear way forward by the end of the meeting - either a referral or blood tests or come back in x months or maybe a combination of the three! I think the referral will depend on your age. It would probably be useful for them to check that you are ovulating by blood tests, and personnally, that would be the minimum I would expect.

Hope it goes well - let us know! Lilo

Went to the doctor as expected they wern't very helpful. Even though I took print outs of my charts she didn't want to see them and basically said that as we got pregnant on our own last time we don't need any help so to keep trying for a few more months :o she said if we haven't had a BFP before October to go back - thats another 5 months away. So looks like we'll just have to keep trying and keep our fingers crossed.

The main thing is that is down on my notes more than anything really although I am a little disapointed that they wern't more helpful or even attempted to offer me any kind of plan to work to. The only questions she asked me was am I married and how long have I been married - am not really sure how relevant those questions were in the grand scale of things. She never even bothered to look at the printouts of my charts.

Aaaaah well here we go onto the next cycle!

Sorry to hear that fairyshazza, my doctor was great when I told her, can you not ask to see a different doctor?
You may get a more sympathetic one?

I could do I suppose but to be honest I think each doctor is as crap as each other at my surgery

After my ERPC they wrote to me asking me to make an appointment to see the doctor and then when I went in they didn’t even know why they’d sent it to me all I got when I asked any questions was “it’s just one of those things, no reason to worry, obviously a sign something was wrong etc etc” the doctor was so unsympathetic and didn’t appear to give two hoots.

OH was obviously a little annoyed that they want us to wait until October when I told him last night and said he was surprised that they weren’t more helpful. To be honest they reacted exactly how I expected them to.

We are hoping to move soon and when we do I will have to change doctors (thank god) as I will be out of the catchment area for the surgery we are at now. I’m hoping that wherever we end up moving to we will have a better doctors surgery and maybe they will be a little more proactive.

The dreaded AF arrived today, with considerably less pain than normal (maybe due to the Clomid) was very upset considering I had a nice dream last night that Dr Christian Jessen was telling me I was pregnant with a boy.

Feeling very low as realised I need to lose a stone and a half and need to get motivated to do it.

I feel so empty at the moment :(

Sorry, Bunnie. I know those dreams when you are having a baby. I had one recently that I had a daughter. She was very smart and very pretty. (Probably never gonna happen in the real life).

I am losing weight at the moment and it is going fine so far. I went to gym yesterday for my run, and although I wanted to stop early, I kept telling myself - 'if you keep running, you might have a baby and year of work'. It worked - I did the two 10 minute runs in the end (as per my running program). I am not too keen on my job at the moment (or should I better say working for this company - as I loved what I am doing when I was in a different company), so a full year off work sounds fantastic to me.

And another motivator for me - if I don't lose those few kilos, it is going to cost me £10k, as I wouldn't get NHS funding for IVF (seems to be the last straw for our unexplained infertility). Our PCT is funding 2 cycles and with average cost of IVF per cycle being £5k, it adds up to £10k. Imagine what you can do with those £10k! (Even if they are fictional...)

    Sorry AF arrived Bunny, (((hugs))).
    Well done Gin:T

I've got an appointment to see a fertility specialist on 9th June. Way off, but something to look forward to, rather than just doing nothing:o
Also, bought Clearblue Fertility monitor, so am looking forward to AF for a change, so I can start on that machine:cool:
