Thanks all for your thoughts and wishes! It went well - better than I hoped for. I like my consultant - he knows how to put me at ease. It was also good to have OH there, as then he was asking the questions I would not have asked.
So, we have not been referred for IVF yet, as my weight was not within the limits NHS would accept. I was given options to stay on Clomid for another 3 months, try different drug (Letrozole) or have nothing and keep practising and losing weight.
My OH then (I am so thankful for this to him), asked what if I lose weight earlier than the 3 months are up. And consultant said that if I want, I can have one month of treatment and I can come in to weigh in with the nurse when my weight is what it has to be. And then he will send out the referral letter straight away.
So, I've got prescription for Letrozole for one month, I will get the scan again (I really wanted to keep then monitoring me).
Then, I need to get my weight to 81kg (I have a proper target from him, but I know I need to get below 80kg for real), check-in with the nurse and we are on the way. I am going to try hard and get to this before my next scan (probably in about 3-4 weeks).
We will have a choice of Liverpool Hewitt centre or Manchester St Mary's. Liverpool one has better success rates at the moment, but then Manchester is a bit closer. I will read up into them and try and find people's experiences.
We were also told, that we can trade 1 IVF cycle to 5 'injectables' (I guess that's what he called IUI). Our PCT funds 2 IVF cycles (that is if new government won't cut this funding).Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Glad it went well:)
You just need to lose 1kg/week:j (Who knows, one you lost the weight., you might conceive naturally anyway;)).0 -
Glad it went well Gin. So what's your weight loss plan?0

Have you seen the HEFA website ? you can compare clinic success rates on there, for example there are 2 clinics in my area - one has really good success rate for the over 35's whilst the other has has better results for couples who have immune issues.
You can also send off (Free) for quite a good guide to infertility & treatments.0 -

Yes, I have seen it. Consultant was saying that injectibles might be a good option for me, as I am still 'young' (I am 30), and if those 5 cycles fail, I still have one more shot at IVF. But looking at success rates - it is not so encouraging in either of those 2 clinics!!! (I think one of them had 1 out 2, and another one 0 out of 9!). So, they are not doing much of them either...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Pleased your appointment went well gin and good luck on the weight loss - at least you have something to aim for.
Just had my appointment through from Sailsbury hospital for 24th June - a bit of a way off but at least its a date to wirk towards. I have checked the success rates which is 12 in 43 which doesn't sound to good to me. The success rates are bit complicated really.BEST WIN LAST YEAR - MULBERRY HANDBAGSENDING STICKY VIBES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM0 -

Sorry, I missed you post earlier! I am following Tesco diets and I am aiming to get to the gym 3 times a week (more like 0 before). I started running and I am quite enjoying it - I have never been able to run, and now I can run for 20 min!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

they r very complicated as no 2 couples r the same, what all clinics do say is the first 3 ivfs have an equal chance of working, when u get to 4 then the odds drop.
Saying that i know off people in the ivf world that have fallen on 5, 6, 7, and even 9th attempt.
I'm looking into what the american ladies use, after the ivf, instead of pessaries they injections to keep the progesterone levels level. I've emailed my consultant to see if we can have that as an option rather than the pessaries.
Those pessaries are so messy and uncomfortable.
Gin i'm really glad u have a rough date, im sure u will do it!!! kick my butt off the couch when u exercise please!! xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

Is that on the couch to 5k program? It's really good isn't it? I couldn't run for a bus before. Have to admit I welched out before the first 20 minute run as I just coudn't believe I would be able to hack it, but will def give it another go when I'm a bit slimmer.0 -
I am thinking of trying acupuncture or reflexology (or both together) to try and help me, I have heard some good stories but was thinking is it even worth me asking the consultants advice as surely they don't 'believe' in alternative/holistic treatments do they?0
