Gin - low carb is the way to go. You can easily lose 6-8 lb in the first week (have a look at idiot-proof diet). I did that before. I'm now doing the hideously expensive Alizonne diet but it's brilliant. I'm under BMI 30 for the first time in years, have lost about 11lb in three weeks. Doing it all to try and get to a weight when I can ttc again.

As long as you say you are losing weight steadily you might be in with a chance of a referral. Worth trying for anyway.

I am still sort of following my Tesco diet for today (will probably change the evening meal to something with less carbs (or just cut out the rice)).

I think tomorrow I will be eating on meat only diet or fruit only. Will see how I feel. So far I am very motivated to keep going through with it, but I am sure it will get harder. I am looking forward to the Chinese crispy beef at the end of it all (yes, I am going to try and lose all the weight just to put it all back after one meal...)

I booked myself a massage for tomorrow evening as well, so that might help to lose some of the water. There is sauna in another gym (not the one I attend), but I am not keen on saunas in general, so will give that a miss.

In the end whatever happens - I will jsut have to accept it, I can't change this. I am as I am - I am not skinny, never been, but then I am not that big either (ok, I have to wear size 18 tops, but it is also true that my bra size is 32J, and my trousers/skirts are size 14...). Once a while, I was 60kg, size 10-12, but that was such a long time ago and before I met OH! (Although all this weight is entirely his fault, of course).

Any magic tricks how can I grow extra few centimetres without high heels by Thursday as well? ;) If I could grow an extra 2cm, then I am ok. (Sorry, I am getting silly!!!!)

Hiya, well done gin on the loss, nearly there!

Gp was today, had my ADs doubled (good) given new painkillers (good) which are extremely unsuitable in ttc - actually recommends that you use contraception in the blurb (bad) - my doc is an idiot. Its official.

So back to the drawing board!

Thank you all for your congrats on me running the marathon... I honestly do believe that if I did it then anyone can, it's so much more a mental than a physical challenge.

We had our referral meeting at the fertility clinic today and, as expected I have been put on 3 months worth of clomid ahead of looking into a possible PCOS diagnosis.

From what you guys have been posting over the past couple of days re clomid, I should be providing my DH which some cover armour?! Must say, not looking forward to that much, but am feeling very happy that we're taking positive action.

Ginvst - agree with all above re quick weight loss - go for getting the water down, maybe one of those wrap things that promise inch loss?

beebuzz - I can only admire you for running the marathon. I am trying to get running and following Couch to 5k program, I am only on Week 6 so far. Unfortunately, my hips are not cooperating at the moment, so it will have to be slowed down. I have never been able to run a lap in my life, so Being able to run for 15-20 minutes so far is great achievement for me. But I still can't imagine myself running for an hour!

Lilo - I am upset at your GP. What is he thinking??????? I would make another appointment to ask to change the painkillers! He does know you are ttc!! On the other hand, some of them cannot be bothered to do anything (I remember being sent home from on of my previous GP surgeries with incredible hip pain that I could barely work, after GP saying take ibuprofen and if that doesn't help, there is nothing else we can do - it took me 3 weeks to be able to walk without pain!!!).

I don't believe anymore I will get to the required weight (it was overly optimistic to start with), especially after this morning scales showed the same as yesterday. It is as it is, and it is physical impossibility to lose 3.5kg in just 3 days. Well, unless you cut of my leg or something. I am just going to find the lightest outfit I can in my wardrobe, and see where we get to. No food or drink tomorrow until appointment (apart from maybe a tiny piece of chocolate just before so I don't faint there). Low carbs today (no bread/rice/pasta). Ok, sorry for bothering you all with this - it is the only thing on my mind, na dI am getting stressed and depressed with this. I promise, I will stop (latest tomorrow afternoon)...

Good luck for tomorrow Ginvst, will have everything crossed for you.

Just had another thought re weight - do you know how accurate your scales are? I weigh weekly on a set of scales at home, but when I was weighed at the docs yesterday I came in about 6lb heavier :( Most demoralised, and I couldn't even put it down to my breakfast!

Hopefully it won't go that way round for you, but it is worth bearing in mind that there will be some variation.

I'm sure if you go in with evidence of the effort you're making, changes to lifestyle etc that they'll be understanding... or at least, that is what I hope they would be.

    Good luck xx

I did step on the scales in Hospital when I was there on Monday while waiting for my injection. It showed 85kg, just about the same as my own scales when I got back home. But then again - who can be sure that all the scales there will show the same...

How far do you want to go? Could book a colon cleanse for tomorrow just before the appt! They often get rid of a few pounds...
