Good morning, I had written out a massive post a couple of mornings ago and it vanished into thin air
WW-have they told you what the problem with hubbys vas deferens is? What have his SA results been like? My OH has no vas deferens at all as he carries a CF gene, all his SA's were zero. He had a procedure where the sperm was removed directly from the testes, I can't remember now if it was a MESA or a PESA-not a general anaesthetic anyway. (Hubby moaned about it being sore for days on end, pppffftt, what a whinge!) It cost about £1000 if you will be paying for treatment. Another SA is then done, and if it's good it's frozen, we have used it for a cycle of ICSI which was unsuccessful and we are now trying with donor eggs.
Perhaps your OH still some good wee sperm getting through, which is why they have suggested IVF rather than MESA or PESA though.
AFM-had baseline scan and Prostap injection on Tuesday night,
so that's this cycle underway, exciting and scary. My bum is really sore after the jag, I'm sure it didn't ache as much the last time.
I became an auntie again at the weekend, which was just amazing, so lots of happiness and love in the family
Hope everyone is good, I must be really lucky with my work, my line manager knows and is really supportive. I have been told to take whatever time I need whenever I need it as long as I let someone know if I'm not in. Brilliant.0 -
Just been to the GP and got our FS referral. Our appointment is on 3 October which gives me 6 weeks exactly to lose 1 BMI point so I fall within the IVF funding criteria - hopefully if I keep at the gym and running and weight watchers that shouldn't be too hard. That's even assuming they weigh me at the first appointment.
DH also has to have a scan and some blood tests before the appointment.
The GP said normally he would refer to a urologist first, but if the scan doesn't show up a varicocele then realistically there's probably nothing a urologist could do and he doesn't want to hold up the process.
Managed not to cry in the doctors but bawled as soon as we came out, I was bottling it all up for weeks.0 -
T2D - I've found aboard for IVF Wales, maybe she could check it out and see what the general feeling is about it?

Part mouse - I was a complete cow on menopur. But I'm a complete cow most of the time anyway so hard to tell what's hormones and what's personality! I didn't have any headaches, nausea, etc. Good luck with it xx.
Chat with boss went really well (she is soooo nice) She said unpaid leave etc. is all at manager's discretion so we can definitely sort something out. She said using flexitime to cover scans/appts seemed like a good idea, but she wouldn't expect me to make up the time when I was the middle of IVF (thoughtful!). With regards to EC/ET she said don't worry about it at all, we can sort something and we don't need to involve HR if we can help it.
We still haven't decided if we are even going ahead again but it's definitely a relief to have one hurdle crossed.
Hugs to everyone needing one today. Thinking exciting embie thoughts for you lucy x.
Am off for 4 days in a caravan with my family tomorrow morning... what was I thinking lol?!0 -
hugs angel. It's so hard isn't it. And so neverending.
I nearly cracked yesterday at the doctors when he finally said 'how are you feeling about this? What do you want?'. I've been good for a while with not crying in doctors offices, but he nearly go me with that!
Great that they are moving you forward, but it's all so difficult.
Yesterday IVF startup meeting went poorly... to put it mildly. I'll update when I have the time and mental energy.0 -
Afternoon all
Good news about your referral Angel - step one eh. And well done for talking to your boss tea - I haven't been anywhere near so brave yet. And congrats about auntyhood mrsh!
Afm well, bit of a to do with our FS appointment this week. It was due on Monday, but the consultant was off sick (how dare she?!) so clinic was cancelled. After some very frustrating conversations yesterday I was ready to make a real fuss but today I phoned again and managed to get a cancellation appointment for today!
It's not with the same consultant, but I figured that as it's only an initial appointment it probably won't matter.
To make things even more complicated, we're moving to a different borough in September. I really wanted to have this 1st appointment done by then, so that the tests and things would, at least, travel with us.
I'm turning 34 in mid-Sept and suddenly time feels of the essence.
Hope you're all having a good day. Anyone got any nice bank holidays plans?

I think it's very mean of them to have me in for vaginal swabs during baby vaccinations so I need to deal with a waiting room full of cute babies.
In other news I have a sinus infection so have antibiotics.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
