Just wanna say these injections suck. I knew they had to be done, but... ow! At first hubby tried to do it in my belly, but he came at me like Christian Bale in Psycho - but without the looks. Now I do it myself and eat a tub of ice cream after :-) x

Definitely deserves ice cream :) Really dreading if/when we get to that bit! Have visions of myself with belt around arm like something out of trainspotting but DH reliably (ahem) informs me it won't be a proper needle?!

Good luck Part Mouse! Hopefully you're not as squeamish as me. Actually debated hospital/knocking on neighbours door last night cos I couldn't do it!!
Wonder Woman, it is only a small needle, the menopur isn't too bad, but I'm doing prostap booster too which seems slightly bigger and doesn't like piercing skin. Once it's in, it doesn't hurt, just my hands shake from getting it there!
Sounds silly but I never thought we'd actually get to this bit. Not positive thinking, more that I thought something would go wrong before we hit this point (maybe too high BMI? or hubby would back out?). But I'm quite fatalistic now, if it's meant to be, it'll work and all that x

I'm not a needles person, and am rarely unwell so not used to doctors/hospitals/medicine.
Yes to IVF, had Prostap end of July (easy injection by nurses), started Menopur Thursday (alright injection, bit complicated to prepare) and from Sunday been having Buserelin booster (horrid injection, easy to prepare). Hopefully egg collection in Leeds on Wed 4th. We're having ICSI due to poor sperm. Two weeks tonight it will all be over!!
It's getting easier, and if I can do it, so can you. And you've got to try, just think of potential outcome x

Wow I've got everything crossed for you. We're just having menopur and pregynl but if these don't work then onto Icsi for us. Pretty scary being this far down the road.i only have one working tube aswell.

Good luck with the injections vseviour-I found it slightly less squeamish to do them in the top of my thigh rather than my belly if that helps :)
There seems to be a few of us going with this cycle, so hopefully a few BFP's coming up.
A nurse has suggested drinking pomegranate juice during this round, I have no idea what it is meant to do, I don't really like it, so have ordered capsules-what harm can it do, lol, I'll just add it onto all the other random stuff I'm eating/drinking and taking :)
I'm just waiting to bleed to get on to the next step now-prostap has made me a bit bonkers this time so I'm keeping a low profile

angeltreats - my DH has had a varicocele for about 17 years, he saw a Urologist years ago who confirmed that was what it was and when we were refererred to the fertility clinic, they also sent him back to the Urologist again. DH has said it's uncomfortable all the time and they have offered to operate on it (apparently the NHS will only operate if it causes the bloke pain and not beacause of a reduced sperm count because there's no evidence to say it improves sperm results). DH hasn't gone for it though as they told him it *could* be a 6 month recovery period! He (sensibly) thought that wouldn't be very good when combined with TTC.

Best wishes to everyone and hello to any other fellow newbies x

    Hi all,

I was a regular on this thread a couple of years back and have been TTC for 4 years now. I lurk every so often and picked up on this.

My hubby had a varicocele which he had operated on. He wasn't in any discomfort but had extremely bad sperm analysis. Numbers were great but motility & morphology were shocking. Our Urologist is oneof a few in the country who believe it DOES have an effect on sperm results, there is nowhere near a 6 month recovery period and my hubby's sperm sample is now increasing every time we have one following the op!

I would suggest if you're really struggling and hubbys SA isn't great, really reconsider that decision not to have the op. It really is a minor one. I wish we'd known about it 4 years ago!

    (we're currently cautiously 3w6d pregnant following a 2nd IVF)

    SK x

I found the needles part a lot easier than I thought I would. Once I got the first one out of the way I was fine - sure you all will be too! Good luck to all ladies currently injecting - fingers crossed it'll all be worth it for you all xx.

Had a lovely weekend away with my family but am now back at work in a grump :( Just don't want to be here. Thought a few days apart would do both OH and me good but I don't know if it's helped really. Felt great when I was away but the minute I got home it was like the black cloud descended again and I feel really low again now. I don't think the problem is him as such (that would be a bit mean of me!!), just being at home, being at work.... it's all a reminder that things weren't supposed to be like this. I should be at home with my children, not slogging through a cra.ppy office job that I'm really starting to hate with some incredibly annoying people.

Aargh.... yet another whinging post. I bet half of you have me on ignore by now.
  • Oh wow SK I am so glad to read your (cautious) news!
I'd been wondering how things were going with you. I've been hoping you would be back with some happy news :)

Hope you are feeling well. I can imagine it is a very scary time, but I will be sending as many positive vibes your way as I can muster up.

    Cautious optimistic congratulations sexkitten :D

Tealover, I'm sure you're not on ignore for anyone.:) It sounds like you need a drastic change in your circumstances if that's how coming home feels for you though... I feel for you. :o

Good luck with your various cycles ladies, I'm keeping my beady eye on you ;)
