Welcome Smookle. And thanks WW for doing such good advertising for us!!

I'm hoping that soon I can have a section in the lists for graduates, but since a burst of them a few months ago we are in a bit of a quiet patch.

WW and Smookle, you will find that most of us post in both this thread and the TTC thread. TTC is good as MrsT_M will keep track of your cycle for you! It's better than any app. ;)

Smookle - do you want me to add you to the list? Can you do a quick 3-4 line summary and I'll add you.

I shall head over there as well then! Though depressingly I am cd3 : ( and feeling very very bitter about it. Just phoned the fertility clinic as af pain seems to have been worse than ever since the lap, so they've booked me in for an appointment with the Consultant next week.
How is this for a summary?
Smookle~TTC for approx 18 months. Aged 27. DH 29. Had laproscopy and diagnosed with moderate Endo and adhesions. All allegedly fixed and fine but still not pregnant. Regular, short cycles, ovulating 2 out of 3 times. Next step - Start IUI in November/December if still not pregnant.
  • Hi all

time2deal - can you please update my summary to say fifth cycle of clomid?

CD1 here again :-( Although we have got a date for our next FS appointment, 15th Oct, which doesn't seem too long away! That'll be the one where they say the clomid hasn't worked and it's time to move onto IVF - little bit nerve-wracking but also slightly exciting.

All the info I've seen on the interweb says that the longer you take clomid, the more your chances decrease - I haven't found very many people so far who've concieved on clomid cycle 5, 6 or even later, so I'm not holding out much hope for the next two months.

Best wishes to everyone - and hugs for everyone who needs them x

Frozen penguin- nothing good has ever come from Dr Google! I think bz was on her last clomid cycle and got a bfp, so there is always hope.
I bet you will be one of those annoying 'oh I just stopped worrying and then it happened' ladies! :)

    Hugs for feeling rubbish though.
  • How have you ladies handled telling employers / friends / family about your situations?

We've not really told anyone we've been referred apart from 2 very close friends (who both have children and although lovely I feel they don't really understand) so keep getting the 'when are you two going to have babies?!' speech from everyone else including both families. I want to tell everyone if just to shut them up but won't be able to cope with the pity! :(

I also really worry about how we would cope going through the process whilst working. I can barely concentrate on anything as it is and nothing has even really happened yet but can't imagine telling my employer and certainly wouldn't be paid to attend appointments as IVF is classed as 'voluntary' treatment!

Still getting to grips with all of the abbreviations, can anyone tell me what a bfp is?

WonderWoman - BFP - is a big fat positive on a pregnancy test. I didn't tell anyone about our ivf except 1 friend. I didn't wanted added pressure of others knowing. I did tell my boss and fitted most of scan appointments around work as got early or late appointments. Then I had three days off for egg collection and embryo transfer and went back after the weekend. They should be able to give you a timetable of when things will happen but this is subject to change depending on how you react to the treatment but will give you a guide.

WW - I've been quite open about it with friends and colleagues (there are several ladies at work going through IVF at the moment) and we've told hubby's parents but not mine, as I know my mother would badger me constantly about it. Better they have no idea we are trying.

One of the IVF ladies at work told me recently that they've put in place a procedure for IVF-related time off. For the days off related to things like ET, egg collection, being generally exhausted from all the meds etc, you have to use your annual leave but they only "charge" you 50% of the time you take if you see what I mean - so if you need five days off you would only need to "use" two and a half. I think that's pretty good to be honest.

As regards appointments, I can work from home one day a week and can schedule appointments then, or if it was needing to have scans several days in a row for example I'd be able to come in late, as long as my work is done nobody minds too much. I do have a good employer though and my manager is lovely, unfortunately not everyone is as lucky.

    Hi ladies,
    welcome new ladies.
I need to look into my work and what they have for time off for treatment. My line manager doesn't know about my ttc journey yet. Have been close to telling her thou, had a really bad week when I felt over sensitive and everyone out to get, blame me. Thinking it's more to do with the clomid effects.
Due to start my last cycle soon (not hopefull this month, Cramps etc atm). In 2 minds to try it this month, due to the way I have been feeling. Work in a high stressed based job and don't want to feel incapable of doing my job due to it.
Do last month or have a break? or tell manager?

    Thanks Time2deal. Here goes..

TTC#1 for approx. 1 year. Me: 27, no known problems, DH: 34, problem with vas deferens. Have had bloods and initial consults. Trying to decide whether we can face going ahead with IVF :(

Can't they suck some sperm out of his billy ballbags and then use it for IUI or something similar? You're so young and there's no suggestion that you're sub-fertile so I'm not sure if you'd actually need a full-blown IVF cycle with meds and egg collection and all that malarky.

What's your consultant said about other options?
