If there's some sort of box ticking to be done, I will want to do my damndest to make sure all those boxes are ticked so we get maximum funding, if we possibly can. If it's BMI related and I have to starve for a few months to get my BMI under 25, so be it. Maximum in our PCT is three cycles but I don't know yet if you just get that automatically if you qualify, or if not everyone does.
I just assumed it depended on your area how many cycles you get (Peonie is attending same clinic as me) but I may be wrong?0 -

I think it does. In this area we used to get one funded cycle but it's none now. We just scraped in for the funded go before pcts were abolished.

Re IVF funding: my understanding is it's not just based on the clinic you're at, but your own postcode area too. When they were discussing my referral it would've been 1, but then they checked my postcode and thought it would actually be 2.

Good lucy Lucy, and mrsh.

Re NHS funding: Definitely depends on area. We didn't get any funded cycles as I'm 35. In my area you get 1 funded cycle if you are aged between 30 -34 (no younger, no older), that's it. We only just missed out!
Well, I now have 2 little embies on board. We went for ET yesterday morning. In my clinic it's their policy to only transfer 1 embryo unless you are aged over 37. However I said I wanted 2 transferred in the circumstances as our chances have been decreased, and they were more than happy to do so, don't think they dared argue!
All of the 7 fertilised ones were still going, and this is what we had to pick from:-
Unaffected 4 embryos: 3x grade two 8-cells, 1x grade three 6-cell.
Heated 3 embryos: 1x grade one 12-cell, 2x grade two 8-cells.
They said that the grade one 12-cell was developing a bit faster than was optimal, plus of course it was a heated one. They also said that two of the unaffected grade two 8-cells had the edge and were the best ones, so that's the 2 we had transferred.
They also said we could leave them all to go to blastoccyst and see what they look like on Monday to pick. In the normal circumstances with the full 7 that's what they'd recommend. But I decided in the circumstances I wanted 2 back in now, as I'm kinda counting it as 4 embryos not 7.
Plus we're going to carry on with all the remaining ones (including the "at risk" heated ones) to blastocyst anyway and see if there are any suitable to freeze on Monday. I kind of figured that if we *had* picked the wrong two now, then the right ones would keep going to blastocyst anyway and be frozen, so nothing is lost.
Hope so, so, so, so much that we've made the right decision. Was so hard to decide what the right thing to do was, especially as we've been massively influenced by what happened.
Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. No Buying Toiletries Challenge since 23/10/2011

Congrats Lucy - sounds like the right decision.
Fingers and toes and everything crossed for you.0 -
Good luck lucy.
My trust only gives 2 funded IVF cycles (Hewitt centre)- not sure of the age cut offs, just know BMI between 19 & 29. I think it's ridiculous. The new nice guidelines say everyone should get 3 funded cycles if they meet age and weight criteria so why it's so bloody hotchpotch all over the place is anyone's guess.
I'm thoroughly fed up. I'm cd 4 and I jumped on the scales- i've managed to gain weight eating healthily and exercising 6 days a week. !!!!!!. I hate everything right now.0 -
Whattodonow wrote: »I phoned the clinic to make sure they received the completed IVF eligibility funding questionnaire as I sent it 2 1/2 weeks ago. And we've got 2 funded cycles. Phew. They replied on the 31st June but we never received the letter. Hopefully we'll get the next one inviting us to the open evening.
Thanks for this. I just sent off my eligibility forms two days ago and was wondering when I would hear back. 2 funded cycles - I really was hoping it would be three - with the dodgy maths I was thinking if IVF works about a third of the time, three chances gives it the best shot. Can't complain I guess. Let us know when you get the next letter xangeltreats wrote: »Two cycles is great. Do you know why they gave you two funded cycles rather than three though?

Hi all.
Have been reading this week but so busy with work (no work internet access) and feeling so sorry for myself i havent posted.
Been feeling a bit down the past few weeks but will get my results of my mmc/possible partial molar this week so will know what im facing better. Think im going to be treated as PMP anyway as its seems to be that they air on the side of caution if theres any debate.
Just means putting ttc on hold until next year which depresses me no end. All but one of my friends have children and i get the feeling there all getting sick of me banging on about it all now. I just get the feeling only people who are going through it/have been through it really 'get it'.
Good luck lucy got my fingers crossed for you and hugs to all the others having a hard time.x0 -
Good luck Lucy, fingers crossed for you xx
BZ, nice to see you, hope you are well
I became an auntie at the weekendI thought I might be a wee bit sad at new baby cuddles, but I wasn't, just delighted that we have a new wee healthy and gorgeous baby in the family
