    Hello *waves*
I hope you don't mind me butting in....
I used to use the tfab thread a year or so ago, but due to one thing and another felt the need to leave it. I missed the support and the banter though, so I hope no one minds if I hang around here?

I'm 34 (and rapidly approaching 35) and dh is 36. We have a son who is 6 and was conceived naturally. We have been trying for no 2 for 3 and a half years now with not a sniff of a bfp. We were told that dh had very low sperm count and those he did have were as good as useless, so I put him on various vitamins and herbal bits and pieces and at our follow up appointment his count had improved to about 70% of where it should be, so to go away and keep trying. That was in August last year. My tests all came back clear and yet still nothing. We now come under the dreaded 'unexplained infertility' bracket.
And as we have ds, we qualify for no help at all.....

We have another appointment next week, and I'm going to ask I I can try taking clomid, but I am totally expecting him to say no. We are seeing Andrew Prentice at The Rosie in Cambridge, and h I supposed to be excellent, but tbh I find him a little too matter of fact....
Wow, what a ramble - sorry!!!
    10/10 [STRIKE]£12,156.26 [/STRIKE] 11/10 [STRIKE]£11,950[/STRIKE] 04/11[STRIKE] £12,500 [/STRIKE]Ooops! Okay, back on track - 01/2014 £2,800, 05/2014 £4,500 (my car died!)

I'm not sure if this helps or not t2d but my private medical insurance at the time covered lack of periods but only if the gynae you were seeing for it was not on their list of fertility specialists. They had a blacklist of gynaes you couldn't use because they worked in settings offering IVF. If the insurance doesn't come through would it be out of the question to self pay?

Good luck with ww. I joined 9 weeks ago and have lost 18lbs so far with almost no effort. It's the first time I've done it and I've been very pleasantly surprised. Have definitely eaten more on their plan than when I have just lost weight on my own.

I can self pay, which is why it's not a massive issue, but I'm sort of annoyed with them suddenly stopping support. I asked if I could be referred instead to another gynae, but now they say its the reason not the consultant who is the problem. Lets hope they listen to me.

ETA: I think my treatment so far has been well over £30k, so I can't complain too much.

And I will join WW. Must get myself motivated and make the call. You are allowed to keep hounding me on here until I do!

DH saw this yesterday. He was reading it to me, and I think only halfway through realised we still couldn't do it at home in the kitchen. He's very MSE my hubbie. :money:

Welcome Mrsvix to the madhouse. Glad to hear the vitamins makes a bit of a difference with your husbands count. I'm hoping against logic that it will make a difference for my husband. It's only in hindsight that I realise both IVF clinics we went to immediately recommended ICSI, so there probably is a real issue with his low count. For our frozen ICSI cycle the count was only 3m. Enough for the nine frozen embies we have though.

I did til October last year when I had surgery. Both tubes were found to be blocked on Hsg and surgery found endometriosis too. Was something found on your hsg?

Primmer, I'm frustrated on your behalf! Hopefully september yields a better response

T2d, hope you get somewhere with them

It's definitely still possible with one tube, once they get you ovulating, as ladies from the ttc thread who've had success after having a tube removed from ectopics etc. can tell you...

FWIW I think though, if I was you, I would reconsider having the surgery they first offered you for ovarian drilling and they could see if anything could be done about the tube at the same time...? :o

Try not to think too negatively, things can still be done.:) That being said, I was almost inconsolable straight after finding out about my tubes, especially when they then said there was nothing that could be done - I think sometimes you just need to visit that dark place for a bit and allow yourself a good wallow, before you can pick back up and start again. Stay strong. :)

    Thanks BZ

I was talking to the consultant yesterday about surgery vs injections and she thought that as I was so ill with the burst appendix it presented more risks to open me up again than would give benefits.i really don't know tbh:o

I'm just so angry about it:mad: if anything happens to the other tube I'm stuffed and I'm worried I'm never going to ov :(:(:(

PM. Sending hugs. Sounds like you are at one of those terrifying points in this process when everything seems impossible. I can only hope it gets better for you, and I'm sure there are brighter days to come. Hugs.

PM - big hugs. It's horrible when you get those days where it seems to be wall-to-wall bad news. I hope you start to get a plan of action sorted soon. Take care xx.
