  • Hi,

I bought some cod liver oil today as my joints keep clicking a lot. Before I took any I googled it and it seems that TTC and Cod liver oil is not recommended. Any thoughts on this thread about it?

I read the ingredients and it doesn't specifically mention vitamin A in there (which is bad for ttc). I'm not sure what to do.

Already taking folic acid and starting vit b complex after this cycle.

    Cheers

    Katy

Oh Gena. I'm so so sorry. I don't know if it's because we've been cycle buddies or what...but this one has really upset me. Its times like this that I wish we weren't all just virtual friends. I'd love to be able to give you a big bear hug and have a cry with you!
Make sure you just let it all out honey and do what you need to do. (((hugs)))

  • Gena, I'm really sorry to hear your news. Hugs to you and everyone else who is going through a hard time just now

Yesterday I felt neasous again and really emotional, but as I thought it was just all in my head and I got my period last night on cd28. At least I know I'm still regular. BF is away for just over a week but comes back with perfect timing, so all I have to do then is to overcome my inhibition and just ask to dtd more often rather than just wait and see how we feel :).

I've got a Doctors appointment later... medication review, talking TTC and about my TLP and the bleeding after :( It's at 5pm which is a really annoying time!

On a more positive note we mananged to BD last night:j Very unexpected as we were both feeling rubbish and DS was still awake when we went bed:rolleyes: (we live in a very small house:o)

Babydust and hugs to all x

  • Hi All
Well I came off the pill on 20th Aug. This was my end of normal pill cycle. Had AF from 23rd to 26th ish. When I was on the pill I never really had heavy periods - I used to before I started taking it many years ago. When I fell with my DD I fell immediately after coming off it.
I should have had AF again last thurs/fri and as of yet - nothing. I have done a test, well - loads! and they were BFN (is that right abbreviation? ) which I am ok about as expected not to fall straight away. But now I am concerned that AF hasn't come and so I don't know if it will so will I Ov at all? In 14 days from when it was due? I have lower abdominal pains and some other signs of AF but nothing yet....I have a Ov test kit but you only get 7 in them so I don't know when to test from?

    Any help/advice appreciated

    xx

From memory cod liver oil is high in vitamin A anyway. Found this on Asda website

There’s also a strong link between high levels of vitamin A during pregnancy and birth defects, which is why pregnant women are advised to avoid vitamin A-rich liver and liver products and also to avoid any supplements which contain vitamin A (unless your doctor has advised otherwise).

Pregnancy vitamins tend not to contain Vit A, but they do contain beta carotene which is a precursor to Vit A, wikipedia has more info if required and this is safer hence being included.

So not sure if it is bad for TTC but once pg it can be associated with badness. It is recommended to take omega 3 oils rather than cod liver oil if you still want to take something like that, but obviously check what they contain. I got some pg multi vitamins to make sure I wasn't taking anything I shouldn't be, but didn't get the expensive ones :D
