Morning Ladies,
Just a quick bit of advice really...... does anyone here not use OPK's because they never get a positive?
Its really weird because for 2 months I did, and then the last two months I haven't but Im pretty sure I am ovulating as the other signs are there, but I'd like to use something test like as a confirmation rather than relying on signs like cm.....
Any advice ladies? TIA xx
Me *puts hand up* of the 3 months that I used them, I got one positive, the rest of the time I get a strong line, but not darker than the control. I'm sure I ov at a funny time of day and never seem to poas at the right time to catch it. That said I was only doing one per day.
The sign that's most like an OPK in its accuracy is your cervix texture and position. A high, soft open and wet (SHOW) cervix is as certain as a positive OPK. You just have to get over the squeamishness of it, which, lets face it girls, sticking your finger up your chuff is the least of the indignities that will happen to you and your chuff once you get pg.... :rotfl:
9DPO here, am feeling quite weird and a bit snuffly still, think its the gloss/white spirit fumes, but I'm not giving up DIY yet, the end is in sight!! :cool:Never argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.0 -

That doesn't make it any easier, but you're in the system now and you have time on your side (though I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better).
You may not agree, but I find that knowledge is power and knowing what's wrong with me is very reassuring (even though googling can bring back horror stories ) it means I can try to work out a way to help myself without just relying on doctors. I hope that philosophy will work for you, and as others have said, there are plenty of women out there who've had kids with PCOS too.
Let it sink in a bit, give yourself a mental break (sounds like you started this morning) and then be strong and see what comes of further tests. We're here if you need us and the girls on the ttc12+ board will be I'm sure, if that's where you feel you need to be. :grouphug:
Ah bitzer thank u lovey, that was a real heart felt post and i really mean that. Such kind and thoughtful words
I agree yes i think ur right knowin makes me feel like i can try to do somethin about this situation and perhaps even help prevent some of those horror stories i have read. I never really looked at it in that view before so thank u x
As for angus castus i have been takin it since my last app about a month now before findin out about the pcos and i wandered if should stil carry on? Just hopin it would help with my extra long cycles! is it worth it now or no? x0 -
afternoon all, have been following this thread, even tho i don't post often. cd 12 here, hoping to bd OH tommorrow if he's not too tired after work, and hopefully again when i see him thurs, cant wait til next month when we actually move in together and can seriously ttc
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
kmckee - thanks
As for Agnus Castus, if it were me, I'd keep taking it until I was told otherwise. It has a cumulative effect, so if you can keep taking it for another month or so (presuming the docs tell you to stop, which they may not) thenits another month of it in your system, right? IMHO, its worth a go, (I'll give most things a go to see if it works to be honest!) but its up to you

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I went to the infertility clinic 3 years after having my DS, I was advised that if I lost 10% of my body weight I would greatly increase my chances of conceiving. My cycle was varying from 32 - 37 days & sometimes it could be as long as 48 days.
I was selected for a study comparing the use of Metformin & Orlistat to reduce insulin levels which can be a factor for PCOS & was prescibed Metformin. Unfortunately Metformin didn't agree with me & after taking one tablet I spent the next 24 hours with my bum firmly wedged on the loo & my head in a bucket IYKWIM, I had to stop taking it.
I have since managed to lose 4 stone & reduce my BMI from 35 to 29.8, 24% of my body weight & my cycles have reduced to 26 - 28 days. According to my FF chart & OPK I am now ovulating every month, I am hoping that this will help us to conceive.
PCOS shouldn't stop you from conceiving, it may just take longer than average, don't give up hope.0 -
I'm afraid you're all going to have to put up with me for a bit longer. I've continued to have small amounts of bleeding until a few hours ago when it's here in full force, although I knew it was all over this morning when I took a test and the line had got fainter. I'm obviously feeling pretty rubbish, but I've seen my parents and talked to my closest friends which has really helped.
Thankyou for your thoughts and support this last couple of days, it's really meant a lot to me.0 -
Aw hun I'm so sorry to hear your news. Don't forget to take as much time as you need to recover and grieve, it will (as I'm sure you've read on here more than once) hit you at random intervals, so just go with the flow.
If you need any advice, or just want to scream and cry about how unfair it all is, you know where we are (sadly there are are many of us who know exactly how you're feeling right now).0 -
Oh Gena :grouphug: I'm sorry to hear that. Take it easy honey xxNever argue with an idiot, he just brings you down to his level and beats you with experience.0
