Well I have had my first breast leakage this weekend!!:o I am a bit paranoid that it is going to happen in work and will be going around with wet patches on my front and nothing to change into!
Hi Karen, I noticed my first breast leakage just over a week ago (Im now 26+5). I saw it when I went to bed, only very tiny droplets but deffo had not seen them before!! Freaked me out a lil tbh but then when I told midwide she said it shows everything is working that made me feel better. I have not had very much at all, definately not noticed any patches on my clothes yet so not worn any pads. Have got a couple from the Emmas Diary free pack from Lloyds though if I get desperate or paranoid, lol!!Boo, I'm going to get the same one I think. Just waiting for the ebay person to pay her bill then I will order one. She is in the forces (the German buyer I was whinging about last week) so has now given me a BFPO address. Hope she is not taking the mickey as once it leaves here I have no cover. With any luck she will pay in the next hour and I can get this mattress ordered so that it (fingers crossed) arrives whilst I'm still off.
Hi Harley, hope your buyer has paid you now so that you can get on and order the mattress. Really hope it fits ok, Im pretty sure it will what with all the bedding etc.Boo – my DH officially moved into the spare room last night! My bump is straining so much that I am finding my body pillow to be useful at last. But as I toss and turn all night, flinging the pillow over me, he has had enough, lol. Was nice to have the extra space, but I missed him too.
Ha Fitzio I couldve written your post, the bit about tossing and turning and flinging the pillow around!! I was spread all across the double last night but still couldnt get comfy!! The thought of us being in seperate beds is a bit downheartening but once once of us goes into the other room it is bliss!! Lol!!newmoneysaver wrote: »Sorry, I posted and then ran yesterday! Someone wanted feeding
Anyway my M&P moses basket says the base is 710mm x 350 mm - is this bigger than normal
Hi NMS, after I read your post about the mattress you got me thinking I must sort mine. My M&P moses basket is the same size as yours but the mattress it came with is smaller which we think is because the gaps are used up once you put the sheet on and bumper round. I ended up plumping for one off ebay for about £7 delivered rather than pay M&P price of £14 plus delivery for their one. Fingers crossed I havent made a faux pas!!
Congrats Dooleys :T
kindofagilr - Love that range of furniture. My brother in law and his fiance are due in about a week and they have the wardrobe, a thin shelving unit, changing unit and blanket box, it looked lovely!! We waited until after 20 weeks scan to start buying stuff but really have only got going since about week 23/24. We are going for a circus theme in our nursery :T
Sorry for long post, I had a days worth almost to reply to!! xxBaby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -
Also, i just wanted to say, which is FAR TMI...
About a week after i had DS, when i wiped myself i felt like i was bulging a bit from inside, so i prodded around a bit and it felt like my ahem, birth canal had gone miraculously tiny. Anyway after some more prodding and poking around i decided i'd try and pull at my 'internal flesh' and sure enough it came away, a piece of placenta
I was horrified by this, but so glad to have it out as i'd been feeling weird down there for what felt like ages Lol!! I don't think it had been there ever since birth, it must have just come down at a later date.
Anyway just thought it was weird, i don't think it's normal though hehe. I don't think i even mentioned it to my HV lol. I had a coil in shortly after though so i knew i was all clear.0 -
Hello lovely pregnant ladies
I had my first two boys in hospital.
With ds1 - I was induced and had an epidural so basically I sat on the bed while midwives cleaned up fed and dressed baby while I delivered placenta and then had tubes and needles removed....then I had brief cuddles with baby, then baby was handed over to dh whilst I was wheeled off to the shower in a wheelchair because I couldn't walk...after I was showered I was taken back to the labour room and then we were all taken down to the ward dh had to give me a kiss goodbye pretty much straightaway as it was after visiting hours...
ds2 - natural birth this time but pretty similar except I fed him this time as I was a lot more able.....then quick cuddles....sent off to shower....taken to ward....dh gotten rid off asap....
then I had ds3 at home.
After the birth I was sat on the sofa, got handed baby pretty much straight after delivering placenta. dh held him while I was delivering placenta.....once I got hold of him dh went and made me a piece of toast.....we all sat on the sofa cuddling while midwives tidied up and filled out paperwork, I got a shower in my own time it was great......usually midwives would have left about then but there was a bit of faffing and we had to nip to the hospital just to get baby cord checked out (all fine) and then home to bed.
I can't remember when or whether I got given anything to eat at the hospital....If I did it may have been before being taken to the ward. It is advisable to take plenty of maternity pads as it pours out while on the way to the shower and back!! I found that I couldn't be bothered with showering and all sorts of potions etc...I literally slapped a bit of shower creme about and rinsed...I was too worn out. I hadn't taken any drinks, but found I was constantly thirsty on the ward, so had to keep asking for glasses of water.
Can't really think of anything else, but if you have any specific questions about either hospital or home birth feel free to pm me....
Just a note - I will definitely be having a home birth next time:D

After DD was born she fed for an hour and then OH held her whilst I went for a shower. All I could think when I got up was is no-one going to look after me
Blood everywhere when I moved, evil pethidine (I didn't agree to!) kicked in and when I got in the shower I made the mistake of trying to wash my foof with baby softwash & my hand - I almost passed out with fear when I felt it - I swear the swelling was so bad it felt like it was hanging down to my knees and I thought my insides were going to fall out through it
Not sure what I expected really as an 8lb5oz lump of baby had just pushed out through it but I certainly wasn't prepared. I actually thought it would never go back to normal
I also made the mistake of looking at it with a mirror the next day when we were at home and I was extremely traumatised for some time - so my advise is DO NOT LOOK DOWN THERE FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS!!!

That's a very good question Jillie! I hadn't even thought about after pains before. And OH was asking if the baby sleeps on the ward with mum, and I assumed that did happen, but really not sure.
JM - thanks for that tip. Any more would be welcome!
Yes baby sleeps right next to mum in a see through cot:) The midwives try to get you to do everything for the baby too, they don't generally take over and do it for you, but will help you if you are unsure about something xxUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

DH is extremely squeamish and not looking forward to the birth at all. so we have compromised and at the moment, he's coming in until it gets too much for him. i'm hoping that once he is there, he will want to stay but, if it is too much for him i have thts fine. i know he tried to stay. he said his mum can go but i;ve put my foot down. if there is to ne any mums there it will be mine. but as she is in ireland thats unlikely to happen
Jillie once your dh is in their he will probably realise it is not actually that bad........all he has to do is not look down that end. My dh looked at the head coming out:eek: I don't think I would like to see that...Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Hi ladies,
After my c-section I had a catheter put in and under normal circumstances should have stayed in bed for 24 hours, but I got up, catheter bag and all and went in a wheelchair up to SCBU. Obviously I hope none of you need to do that, but for info you will be able to get up with a catheter if you absolutely have to.
I could have a shower the day after (bearing in mind my c-section was at 7am) and a bath the day after that. I did get down in the bath, because I wasn't feeling strong enough to stand, then once down there thought "Ah, how am I going to get back up?" so had to have OH to help me. He sat on the floor next to the bath all the time just in case I fell over cos I was woozy with the morphine.
I didn't bleed very much afterward - with a c-section they usual do a fair bit of "mopping up" for you. It was like a light period for about 10-12 days, that's all.
ETA: With having a general, it was the usual small sips of water and only eat hours (14+ I think) hours later. And expect anti-clotting jabs in your thigh (which really sting!) for five days afterwards.

Responding to Jillie
Christopher born in hospital.
popped him out we were both stabbed with injections (ouch!) he was wrapped and put on my chest to feed while they literally pulled out my placenta, then he was dressed (not sure by who) while I was stitched up, tea and toast all round then I was told/asked to shower - at that point I realised I hadn't packed any towels and only had the one I'd been sat on in the caranyway basically just rinsed off and got dressed all with help of mum n OH (Chris was asleep for all of this) then we were taken to the ward.
Edgar born at home 6:13am
he was delivered on to my chest fed straight away stayed there until I delivered placenta naturally (about 30mins) then hubby took him with one of MWs to clean up, weigh and dress him while I was sorted out and stitched. Ed was brought back in and we stayed in bed feeding and sleeping together until after lunch when my mum came back with dad n Chris while they cooed over Ed hubby helped me shower and then when mum, dad n chris left I went back to bed with Ed.
2nd time was so much better and if I ever have another I'll be wanting another HB
