Weezl- if you are still around..did you actually give birth in the paddling pool or just labour in there? I did read your BS but I can't remember! Obviously your midwife was happy for you to use a paddling pool and not a proper 'birth pool' ?!
I ask because I'm hoping for another homebirth..but a planned one this time! And I also want a waterbirth. We have quite a large paddling pool but am wondering if I'll have to buy/rent a pool specially designed for giving birth in.
Feel free to 'crash the thread' whenever you have the time as I find your tips helpful as although Ive had a homebirth before,it wasn't planned so I never did any of the planning for it beforehand IYSWIM.
love my little man he is amazing :j

    Hi helen,

I'm afraid I hopped out at 8cm for a cheeky half-shot of pethidine, and finished labour on my downstairs futon! MW was very happy with the pool as an all the way through method though, as it had nice high sides and there would have been room for me and 2 MWs if we'd have needed to!

The friend who leant it to me has leant it to 3 friends who've completed their labour in it...

    HTH,

If I don't seem to be around and you think I can be of use, please feel free to PM :)

Skinty and Sami are homebirthers too, oh and redmel had Kai at home...

hi CB sorry to gatecrash the thread :o

I borrowed an electric fan, a large paddling pool

got loads of old towels off freecycle/friends Have a few old towels and loads of old sheets....

bought a swiss ball from argos, a tens machine and some electrical duck tape stuff that electricians use to seal off the overflow in my bath so the water could be a blissful 3 ins higher and cover my bump.

Also had in my calcium ;) hiya Glam

Wish I had had co-dydramol, ibuprofen gel, and arnicare cream and a bag of frozen peas all ready for afterwards.

Lots of love and fingers crossed for you,

    Weezl x

Thank you so much weezl - you were the superstar who gave me the homebirth link - it was just that my pregnant brain could not remember! I have everything in red - the bathroom downstairs has a deep bath I am hoping to be able to use it if I feel the need it is a relaxing room as it is one of the few we have finished! The bathroom upstairs I am in the middle of [STRIKE]throwing everything out of[/STRIKE]cleaning , but the bath is a compact one and the so if I can I hope I can get up and down the stairs ok. I have paracetamol - can't remember being given anything else after having the others... ok I am a bit more prepared that I thought I was - thank you again x

Congratulations on the arrival of your little boy!

re the arnica tablets - you need to take the 1st few doses quite close together and thereafter they are spread out at longer intervals. Don't let them fall to the bottom of your hospital bag it is best to take them asap - even though it is the last thing on your mind! All of my little people arrived between 10pm and 3.30am so getting the timing right can be a bit awkward - but imo using the arnica cream on bruises you can see gives me faith that the tablets work on the bruises you can't see!

Apologies for my spelling - I am too tired to double check :o

Better go take dd's friend home and then sort out the last bit of school uniform shopping - thanks for the advice.

    Hello.

You lot have been chatty today. I haven't made any notes as I didn't expect there to be so much! And then I went to put the dinner on and my mind has gone blank.

Glad all scans and appointments went well.
Congrats to Dooley - I was wondering if you had managed to go full term with twins! Nice to hear from you and glad your little girls are safe.
    Welcome to Littlebit.

Nice nurseries ladies! Mine is a bit boring as we just kept the walls cream and put up a border, but it's quite a small room, so didn't want it too bright. The bedding and curtains brighten it up though.

Harley - thanks for the note about the Boots vouchers. I had a look in the shop as I remembered someone had mentioned a new catalogue, but didn't find it (and I didn't know about the vouchers anyway so would probably just have taken it home). Maybe it means I need to go back to Boots and buy some more stuff to get value from the voucher??!!

    Remembered more!

Aless - glad you got your flights sorted out. Its one less thing for you to stress about.

Fidget - Hugs to you. Sorry that things aren't great at the moment. If you feel like sharing your woes, please do post again. Everyone is here to support you so don't feel shy if you want to chat.

Smartie - probably not the best person to respond, but apart from RLT, you could buy her some pineapples (I think someone said you need 9), a spicy curry, and possibly a gigolo to get things going! I think anything that will make her go to the toilet really. Herbally/medically, I really don't know. I know some girls are taking arnica and calcium, but I think that's to help after the birth.

will put the arnica tablets in my wash bag as i imagine that is the first thing to get used after the birth.
actually what does happen after the birth?? do you go for a shower etc etc
