Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Jenny i'm seriously considering it. I bought a full bulky pram for DS and it was a nightmare on buses, but i drive now and never venture far, so i'm thinking as long as i have a car seat, i still have DS's huge thing in case i need to walk far, then i can get something smaller and cheaper once baby can sit up unaided.

    Still debating with myself though!
  • Hi :hello:

I don't know where the time has gone... just about everyone I knew was expecting has had their little bundle(s) arrive- Congratulations to all!!

I have been lurking for the past week in awe of you all who seem to be so organised - lol it makes me seem even more disorganised than I feel... so my question really is about preparing for a home birth - I asked the MW if there was anything I needed to get/do etc and she said there wasn't anything (I already have the tens machine) the only things I have thought of are waterproof sheets for bed, I have a large tablecloth protector thing which I could use if I need to get comfy on floor with beanbags/cushions... Is there anything else?! (apart from all the normal stuff you would take to hospital anyway?)

Sorry I have check out the homebirth site and others but I just wondered if anyone who had had a home birth could tell me if there was something they wouldn't have been without/wished they had.

DH will be with me - mum is going to take care of the kids - still hard to make proper plans the kids will have gone back to school a week before my edd - I was overdue with them all - and at this rate need to go overdue so that I am ready :o Sorry mum is not supportive of my choice of giving birth at home (in fact is totally against it) but I have no complications and have had 3 problem free deliveries. Her shortness when I try to talk about it is getting to me a little - although our relationship is a bit strained anyway I just don't need that just now.

The MW sent me for a growth scan last week (bump is very neat) everything was fine all measurments in the middle of the guidelines good weight etc. So I feel confident that I am not putting spud or myself at any risk - my hormones might just be getting to me a bit - lol haven't even bothered to tell MIL that we are having a HB not that she has really asked... I am almost 37 weeks.

With the school holidays and keeping the kids busy/swapping bedrooms about/sorting out other assorted jobs I haven't had much of a chance to prepare anything baby related the 1st thing we bought was the pram at 34 weeks - the cot arrives on friday - I am not even sure if I have everything for the "hospital bag"! MW's don't go on call until 38 weeks here.

Labour vibes for Suzy and congratulations to those who have had a bfp!

Off to put a smile on my face and feed the troops - and sorry I think I waffled a bit :o

hi CB sorry to gatecrash the thread :o

I borrowed an electric fan, a large paddling pool

got loads of old towels off freecycle/friends

bought a swiss ball from argos, a tens machine and some electrical duck tape stuff that electricians use to seal off the overflow in my bath so the water could be a blissful 3 ins higher and cover my bump.

Also had in my calcium ;) hiya Glam

Wish I had had co-dydramol, ibuprofen gel, and arnicare cream and a bag of frozen peas all ready for afterwards.

Lots of love and fingers crossed for you,

    Weezl x

    afternoon!! :j

    well appointment was so/so
scan was fab. can hardly see anything now as baby takes up all the room! measuring fine. although cos DH could see the screen better than me and the measurements, we are about 1-2 weeks bigger than they estimate, but not worried at all about this as this means that with the meds i'm on they havent affected growth at all :T:T:T. estimated birth weight for today was 2385g which if you're like me havent a clue thats 5 1/4lbs. my friend had her baby at 40 weeks and he weighed that!! all fine and is still head down.

BP was a little high when we first went in to see Dr, 130/90 so they are a little concerned but am not showing any other symptoms as such of pre-eclampsia or not enough to say i am starting with it. was some stuff in urine as well, so that has gone for further tests and had more bloods taken as well also to check for signs of pre-eclampsia. BP was down again when she did second reading. so may have been a once off. was really nice lady doctor, covering the clinic while another dr was on leave

back to MW on wed and back at hospital next monday.

think this maybe my routine for the rest of pregnancy....

said i probabaly havent been drinking enough liquid and need to eat more!
and dont collect my wee till i've ate something!

  • Tigs, you stick around, !!!! the trolls!

I have no idea what was said or why these people are being horrible but everyone lets ignore then

Ok peeps, for those of you who have cotbeds, which one did you get?

We got the Ella cotbed from John Lewis. It's really nice, but if we'd been paying for it ourselves we'd have probably gone for a cheaper Ikea one :o.

    Hi Everyone :hello:

Sorry haven't been on for ages but twins made a very early apperance!
10 weeks early, so we have been in special care all this time.
    2lb 3oz & 2lb 13oz.
2 beautiful girls now home :D
    So will catch up soon

    :j:wave:

Congratulations!!! Glad to hear that you're all home now, and thanks for popping on to let us know.

Harley- glad you can get some more rest this week. I think I'll speak to the nurse about getting signed off when I get my blood pressure done this week. I ended up in tears after work today as I'm just finding it so flipping exhausting. I'm also seeing my boss on Wednesday so will speak to hear about finishing two weeks early as I think psychologically that will make a big difference.

SJ- so glad you got your scan today. The pics are lovely.

GISI, thanks. I'm actually quite glad too now. Have already had two naps today so I think I would have struggled if I had gone back to work. Though if I had something to occupy me maybe I would have been ok. I'm sure you could probably do with the break too, although you are a bit behind me I have actually been feeling pretty exhausted for several weeks now.

Jillie - glad everything is ok. Can't believe baby is that heavy already, though we are not that far away now are we? Mine is still moving in strange positions and feels pretty heavy too. Glad BP lowered, could it have been high because you were rushing to get to the appointment? Mine seems to be higher if I have not had chance to sit in the waiting room for a while. But then, I'm always rushing from one place to the next.
