Gods, Nicki, I've never said anything like that and I'm horrified that you'd read what I said that way. I'm sorry it looked that way to you. What I remember saying, or at least trying to say, was that every woman makes her own decisions during pregnancy and going into labour and the ultimate aim of all of us is to have a healthy baby at the end. Some women sadly don't manage to do so, but that doesn't mean they're to blame for doing what they thought was best. There's a difference between a discussion about a topic in the news that relates to all of our concerns and what you call "petty sniping". I don't do the latter - if I have a problem with something or someone I'll say it outright. Like now: I think you're being deliberately confrontational and I'm still not sure why.
It's true that I was annoyed with you at one stage, but that was after you suggested that my doctor was deliberately and unprofessionally suggesting false remedies for a problem I was having because you think I'm a difficult patient. (And why you'd say that without my medical history in front of you I've no idea.)
However, please feel free to ask for advice when my light is on. I'll be ignoring you and can only hope you do the same. If I've upset you as much as I seem to have, I don't know why you're not doing so already.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

No, no, just had a swim on holiday....like me
Swimmers were involved, no doubt - but you have to be careful with those foreign pools. You never know what might be lurking :rotfl:got-it-spend-it wrote: »Our baby's head circumference was on the 95th centile at the 20 week scan- all other measurements were between 50th-75th. Ouch! We can compare notes afterwards - I'm hoping she doesn't have big linebacker shoulders. Husband's uncle is a bodybuilder and is massive, but was big built before he started training. Hopefully she'll get my delicate bones and not take after the side of the family with the SHOULDERS instead of shoulders.Kate Garraways baby, I remember reading that her midwife said she thought she was having a big baby, he was only 7lb 12oz and she was huge!
I'm shaking my head at "only" 7lb 12 - isn't that still rather large considering where they have to exit?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Good luck with the consultant lou, and enjoy the bath - I think I'm off to bed now. There is a disgruntled cat who keeps pawing at me and wandering to the bedroom and back (sometimes he's like Lassie, I swear, all he needs is a set of flash cards and he'd be completely comprehensible) and a book that I may finish before falling asleep.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Thank you for your suggestion Nicki. I did very briefly consider a doula, but I'm far too tight, and one wage is struggling enough with everything that is essential, so I decided against it.
However, after discussing it with some midwives it was suggested that some of the student MW's would bite my hand off if I wanted someone to keep me company/hold my hand/ feed me peeled grapes, etc so I decided that was probably the most MSE option. However, I have not committed to this either, as I am still hoping I have 8 weeks left and not 5, I think I still have time to make a final decision when I am a bit closer. And with any luck, it will all happen so quickly it'll all be taken out of my hands and a couple of deep breaths and a quick squeeze later, bubs will be placed on my tummy for our first cuddle.

I'm well past immaculate conception and the swimming pool idea would be pushing my luck as well. I'm just your general run of the mill hussy who is living in sin with her other half ;-) lol:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

mmm.....just caught up a bit and was gonna say hello, but i can tense the atmosphere here tonight.
i have to say that i also tended to write a list of what i had done or needed to do in the past here too. Whiel i agree with you Nicki, that not all of the things that i may have put on my list would be related to baby-talk, i think it still affected the thread as I am pregnant and was looking for motivation from others. If i dont have any interest or cant help in what another poster says, i generally skip past their post.
I have found during my time on this thread, that most of my posts are skipped past by others, even if I am looking for advice or help, so why cant a couple of lists be skipped?
Surely if it was completely off-topic enough, a moderator would sort it out!??Carla-Farla!!
