HI Fitzio - I'm out of hospital for the moment, if there's any more blood then i have to go back in and they won't let me out again, that i know for definite. I have got an appt with my consultant on Monday morning and then i find out if they want to move my date forward again.

This last trip to the hospital threw things a bit for me to be honest, on Sunday i'd found out from one of the local midwifes that at Wexham Park hospital if you are having a planned c-section then you are operated on in general theatre which means that once the op is over they wheel me one way and the baby the other??? I'm stuck in a recovery ward for about an hour without my baby, I can't see why they would do this as i seem to have been told the whole way through my pregnancy that the first hour is the most important to get baby onto you and get skin to skin and introduce them to the breast. The thing that makes is doubly annoying is if i had an emergency c-section then it's done in the theatres in the labour ward and afterwards the baby is with you at all times. So how does that work??? Because I know i have to have the c-section they're going to take my baby away??

What i'd decided to do is request to change trusts as this is the only hospital in the whole area that does this to elective c-section mothers, everywhere else the baby is kept with the mother at all times unless there is a problem obviously.

But now because I've had a third bleed no other trust will take me. So I'm going to talk to y consultant about this on Monday and try and find some way that my baby stays with me. The whole thing is really upsetting me to be honest as i have issues around seperation and my own birth and i was determined to make my baby feel loved and wanted from the moment he was out...

I got the dongle too, so next time i go into hospital i can stil keep you all updated on what i'm up to!

Oh and as soon as i hear anything at all from Skinty i will let you guys know!

Hey Fitzio - I'm glad it's quiet - means I won't miss out on too much later. No big plans for today. We are going for a meal, but not until Monday because there are a few people off today, and Monday means I can take my time and get ready at home etc.. It'll be nice to have a relaxed day at home beforehand instead of going straight from a warm office and trying to get changed in the toilets :p

TBH - today feels like a normal day - It'll hit me on Monday when hubby is getting up for work and I'll be rolling over going back to sleep :T

Don't worry, I bet your last 4 weeks will fly by :D

Morning all! Just got up from a really lazy lie-in. I really feel like I could sleep forever. Took today off work as flexi time b/c the thought of another full 5 day week would've had me bolting. Think I'm going to pick up some Iron supplements as this exhausted feeling hasn't gone away and I've had low iron in the past. Have been really naughty with not eating enough fruit & veg so I figure my lack of energy is likely from lack of good nutrition. I do take a basic supplement everyday but must need more iron.

Dunno why have gone off veg lately...my mother would be ashamed!!

It's certainly does sound like a strange way to do things - I can't see why it would make any difference if your c-section is planned or emergency - surely the point of both it to get baby out and with it's mum. I would def talk to your consultant and have it put on your notes that you want baby to go straight to you. Do you know if baby will go to Dad, if for some reason it can't go straight to you?

Lots of no more bleed vibes coming your way - just make sure you try and rest as much as possible hun! x

I hope all has gone well with Skintchick, but given that she hasn't replied to Hypnonu's text and hasn't come back to post the outcome, it sounds a bit like that her homebirth wasn't as straightforward as she had hoped and planned. I think in fact its 3 days now that she hasn't been in touch, which sounds a little like she may have ended up in hospital with an em c section after all. If that's what happened she's unlikely to be back home until Saturday or Sunday anyway.

Maybe I'm being oversensitive (have been accused of this here lately ) but maybe we should all give her a bit of space until she comes back to tell us of her own accord how things happened? She was so determined to have the perfect birth, and had done so much reading and research in advance, that if things haven't gone completely according to plan, she is likely to be pretty upset about that, and might find it hard to come back and tell her story for a while. There is a fine line between feeling supported by the good wishes and request for info, and feeling overwhelmed and intimidated by it all, and where that line falls is a very personal thing that no one else can judge. She was also concerned a few months ago of a possible emotional reaction to things not going as she had planned as she has had problems with depression in the past.

And of course, if its simply a question that Skintchick junior has proved to be a demanding baby who is taking up all her time, she will be back soon anyway with a spring in her step to tell us how it went, and she will see if she reads back that everyone has already sent her good wishes and is waiting patiently for her in her own good time to update us.

Please don't flame me for this. It is just a thought for people to consider, as I know that personally if it were me and scenario 1 is what has happened that the more people were asking what had happened to me, the harder I'd find it to actually come back, and that would be a shame as I think this thread can be very supportive to those who need it, and I'm fairly sure Skintchick has found that too.

    Morning.

I was told that they will try some tablet before insulin, can't remember the name. But every HA seems to have their own rules for stuff. I need to sort my diet out, it was fine the first week or so, but with the diadiddly my appetite is fiddly, the stuff that is good for me I can't face eating. Must try harder my report probably says!

My bump is tender today, it's been cramping all night but I only woke a few times. Still really tired though.

DH, BIL and the boys go away camping tonight and tomorrow night, so I have the house to myself all weekend. Going to be bored though, I'd go into town on Saturday but I can't drive and hate buses (plus the walk to and from bus stops would kill me) I was planning on going to the sandwich bar and residing my butt there all day :D I need ideas on what to do at home.

Morning all, not much doing today, OH's car still in the garage so he's got mine and I've got nothing! Going a bit stir crazy now. Not actually needing to go out anywhere but its nice to have the option!

Hypno, certainly sounds a bit strange, hopefully consultant will put your mind at rest. Always get a bit miffed to be honest hearing about first hour being most important and skin to skin being nessessary to bond. I was unconsious in the ICU from 10 mins post delivery til DD was 3 days old. We still bonded. Obviously in an ideal world everything goes to plan and all is rosy, but the pressure shouldn't be on that you've done something 'wrong' when your body doesn't co-operate. IYSWIM (its still early,am waffling lol)
Echoing eveyones thoughts on Skinty, hope all is ok x

Nicki i thought that too, although i'm sure during all her research she was realistic about the possibilities of things not going to plan and hopefully the people around her were great. I think once she was in full labour all her plans were out the window anyway!!

Hypno, I've only heard of that when mum has had a general. But even at that, baby is usually close by. In recovery the 3 others had their babies with them (which was really nice seeing as mine was in NICU and the one time I got to see him I got sick).
