GISI Can I ask how much maternity leave you are planning to take.
I have a really strenuous job as well but can only afford six months off and am constantly changing my mind about when to start mat leave. Need to tell work by next week though so better make my mind up quick!!!

    Pookie

I have told my work that I will finish on the last possible day which is Friday 18th Sept, with my due date Tues 22nd Sept.

I did this knowing that I can, in the last 4 weeks, go to the doc and get signed off if I need too, therefore kickstarting my Maternity Leave from then.

I didn't want to commit to a date then find that I was perfectly capable of working past that because I would then have to leave. This was the best way of keeping my options open.

Of course, I can carry my annual leave forward until next year, which not everyone can.

Little did I know how shattered I would be and how the massive increase in my size is making everything so difficult. I have to keep reminding myself that anyone putting on 50% of their body weight in 6 months would be struggling by now.

Hope this helps a little bit, though probably worth checking that what I am allowed to work is the same for you as I think every company has different rules.

    I am office based btw

Sirius was very hot. Woefully underused, too, and never quite shirtless enough for my liking.

I hope you're ok, Lou, how alarming!

    Apparently I'm 97% pregnant.

Rant follows - please feel free to skip it:

Gah, what an awkward day. The first two things went fine, and by 11am I was waiting to sort out the third thing. Except I was missing a key bit of paper, and by the time I got home, found it and made all but two of the phone calls I needed to make it was twenty minutes till my radio appt. Only she didn't turn up and I spent 45 minutes waiting for her. Then I made the last two phone calls and grabbed something to eat, then patiently waited for the piano guys to turn up. Husband showed up in a foul temper (he works in a glass building with no aircon, it was 34 degrees today) so we snapped a bit at each other then retired to our separate corners to cool off and made up. Piano guys still not there.

I went off for a nap (all my stuff is done), and he woke me three separate times because he never turns the sound on his computer down properly. Eventually he came in at 6:30 "to rest for five minutes". I woke when the doorbell rang at 8pm - piano guys, four hours late (got someone else's piano stuck in a stairwell) - and had to wrestle him out of bed. He's back there now, and although there is still stuff we both need to do before bed I can't wrangle him out of there. GRRR. And the rubbish collection is tomorrow, I can't carry the amount of stuff we have down the stairs and he's going to sleep through it. I hate feeling like I'm doing all this stuff alone.

SS, I completely agree, I'm sure there was a bit in one of the books where Sirius was in the shower, was a key scene. Why did they not have it in the film? :D

Glam, I'm a HP addict, I re-read them over and over again. So sad I know! :D

Oh btw, are you mega thirsty Glam? I'm drinking like mad and of ofcourse peeing like mad, but soooo thirsty it's constant drinking.

GISI, I'm fine now. Was just when I woke up, I had hairy dog mouth too. :D How you doing? Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah a bit but I'm too lazy to make drinks!!!

Today - my sugars have been 8.9 after 2 slices of granary bread and a yoghurt and then 9.1 after chippy, and an 8.0 after lamb, new pots and veg (and a small handful of midget gems). All above the 7.8 so will nee dot try and be even better tomorrow otherwise it's Injection at lunchtime as well!

Pookie - even though you have to tell work by next week, you can still change your mind as long as you give them 28 days notice. I was starting Mat leave on 20th September (2 days before due date) - now with GD I've changed it to 16th August/ Good job cos I'm being induced around 11th Sept!!!
Like harley said you can always get signed off sick and pregnancy sickness doesn't count on your sick record.

Phew! Managed to catch up - it's so hard not being on in work!

I spent the day gothing through some of my tasks with my boss - it took me 4 hrs to train him on something which take me 30-45 mins to complete, then another 2.5 hours in the afternoon to go through it again! I've got more to do tomorrow - so my last day isn't going to be relaxed - I also have to clear my desk, sort my emails etc and set up a small new system for something! Grr!!

Anyway, I've not been to see HP cos I think 3hr+ in the cinema, this far gone, just doesn't sound like fun - will have to wait until it's on DVD.

Hubby has done a big tidy of kitchen (his words - cheeky sod, it wasn't even that bad!!!) and he made tea :j, hoovered and mopped.

    and I'm 95% pregnant!

NMS - we're waiting til the new HP comes out on DVD as well. It's less expensive than a trip to the cinema, and I can't even imagine sitting for 3 hours without using the toilet at this point! lol

Looking at your menu for the day, I'm understanding why I'm losing weight at the moment. My menu today was:

Breakfast - half a slice of toast with honey and a cup of tea. We only had one slice of bread left after I'd fed the kids, and my DD then swiped half of mine when I wasn't looking. Usually I'd have 2.

Lunch - fishcake and chips from chippie. DS's choice. I really didn't fancy it, but I did eat it all. Usually I'd have a sandwich or something. Diet coke

Snack - a blended fruit drink in a coffee shop, no cream.

Tea - half a small can of baked beans and 2 slices of wholemeal bread. Glass of lemon squash.

That's actually much more than I'd usually eat in a day, and I feel uncomfortably full at the moment. Looking at it, I probably need to be drinking more too. I suspect I would be eating more pre-pregnancy but I have a very small appetite at the moment.

    I'm 30 weeks tomorrow so 73% pregnant

    Nicki - I'm hungry again!!

I have found my appetite has increased slightgly over the last few weeks.

Chippy is normall just two small chicken rolls, crisps and an apple.

I didn't think I ate that much but compared to you I feel like a piggy! :p

God, want to know what I have had today?

1/2 slice wholemeal toast and jam with a coffee
Brown bread sandwich with ham and coffee (at day care)
    Cheese and pickle wholemeal sandwich
3 bowls of french onion soup (homemade with 6 small onions and all in my tummy now)
    4 Ice pops (sugar free)
    2 mini milk ice lollies
3lts () sparkling water and SF orange squash

Actually my belly says it's more but that's not as bad as I thought? I think I'm eating out of boredom and thirst. My bladder is so sore too, but I can't stop drinking! I even had a wee pee accident earlier! May have to go for a bath to give my legs a rest! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(yes that means pee in the bath - don't wash hair)

Back from Boots! Got 2 packs of thick maternity pads (Boots own brand) as I think this is what everyone on here recommends. Also bought some nappies.
Need to go to Morrisons tomorrow to check out the offers. Did notice that Boots had the TT Manual Breast Pump for half price although they had none left on the shelf.
Nipped into Next as well and they had hundreds of baby clothes in the sale, but nothing neutral so didn't buy anything.

Pookie - nice to hear from you. Someone was asking about you earlier. If you are still feeling ill next week, don't rush back. You might make yourself worse. I don't think anyone would think badly of you if you were off for more than 1 week with flu whilst pregnant.

    Welcome and congrats Nozza!

For my last 2 babies i found the asda's own 'Freestyle' sanitary towels did a better job than any maternity pads, using the 'night time' ones at first as they are thicker and more absorbant. I've bought the same brand this time round...and hoping i'll be needing them soon!!
If google doesn't know it, how should i?
