    Hello all,

To those who kept up with my marathon thread before..............I'm back!

Heading back down to London on Sunday for 2 weeks so will update my totals before then if possible. I have been working really hard over the last year or so, hence my lack of presence on here. However, I have been trying to maintain a balance of giving my family well earned treats and keeping a frugal head on the rest of the time. The debts are reducing!! Honest!

Came on here for a little kickstart as I feel like I haven't been giving my debt busting my usual level of enthusiasm!

    Will update the total shortly!

Just a little amendment to explain the figures above on the remaining debts.

Next is being paid back 0% interest at £6 a month. A pathetic amount they are willing to accept whilst I prioritise paying back the ones who are charging me interest then I'll wipe this one out!

The littlewoods balance is being repaid at 0% over 3 years :)

The A&L loan is being repaid with no interest charged at £50 per week so should be gone in a matter of 3.5 months just in time for Christmas!

The Viva La Diva is a catalogue account which I had been paying then they changed the terms without notifying me saying that i was not meeting "our agreement". I have sent off the letter they sent to me confirming the "agreed repayments" and a copy of my bank statements showing that I had kept to the agreement. When they starting rattling on the charges, I stopped paying and sent my case to the Ombudsman :0

Santander is a current account which had an overdrawn balance of £188 which we sent them a cheque for to close the account. They tried to say there were £10 pending charges, therefore i sent an accompanying letter with the cheque stating that if they cashed this cheque for the outstanding balance they agreed to waive the pending £10 charges. If this was not agreeable to return my cheque. They cashed the cheque then added the charge which made us overdrawn and then continue to charge an overdrawn daily charge (p*ssed off.com). As i clearly set out the terms for cashing the cheque, I believe that these charges should not be applied. I have written them a letter supplying my "evidence" asking for a "final response" so I can refer this to the Ombudsman.

The HBOS Credit Card balance of £6.5k, i know they don't have a true copy of the CCA, as I have a full copy of any info they have on the account and it isn't there. None the less they continue chancing their arm, despite stating that they are unable to provide the copy I request. They sent a doorstep collecting agent the other day, complaint to the Ombudsman re OFT Guidelines on Debt collection breach coming their way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have included this in my outstanding debts but I am not currently paying anything to this as the account remains in dispute. When the remaining debts are all repaid I will make a low F&F on this unless they buckle before then. I realise this sounds irresponsible but HBOS have had more than their fair share from us over the years, and they didn't repay my bank charges, they just stalled us for a couple of years then we missed out. This is my way of getting my bank charges claim paid ;)

The HBOS account is an old current account which we are waiting on them to refer to debt collectors to make a F&F.

Getting there slowly but surely :D

Feeling like a huge weight lifted off my chest, and my enthusiasm revitalised!!!

Can't believe how much I have chopped off our debt in a year (but I am working like a crazed lunatic!)..............

Sorry if some are offended at the ones I refuse to pay...........I will get there.

    I CAN DO THIS!

Time to relax with a glass of vino then get the dinner on for my hubby and DS (being a good little wife and all that!):D

For those of you who have read my thread............I couldn't have done this without you or this site.

For those of you new to MSE or DFW................... if you knew the mess I was in, this is a huge leap. Nothing is that bad, and this site and these people can truly help you turn it all around. It's only money and its more than likely your mess, but things can change :)

    Hi Verbatim!

London is difficult but a money spinner! The overtime is almost unlimited and at around £200 a shift after tax I keep on working!

Missing the family but my husband has become very domesticated. Working very hard means I can treat my family whilst also paying off my debts quicker. I can almost see my debt free date. My plan is to beat July 2014!!!

Hope all is well with you xxj

Thanks Tixy, so nice to hear from you again. I have kept at it the last year, but didn't realise how successful my efforts had been until I recalculated my total. Very proud of myself (but still very in debt!)

Old habits die hard, I'm having a NSD today xxj
