:Lol, having just landed on the first page of my original diary. Not only is this almost 10 years down the track, but I've realised I turned my entire financial predicament around in 4 years. I had a number of other challenges at the time such as working away from home, university, reduced income etc. We managed to fill 162 pages of positive encouragement, constructive feedback and a few laughs along the way. Thanks all, you are a bloody wonderful bunch. Keep going!:j:j

I thought I would share my latest little side hustle with you all. Not sure whether there is an equivalent site in UK, but in Australia we have a site called Camplify. It basically lets individuals hire out their personal caravans, providing hire or reward insurance to "top up" your personal comprehensive insurance during the periods it is hired. They take a commission of 5% of the total hire cost. We realised that our van sits pretty dormant during the Winter period as we are tied with soccer commitments every weekend. On a whim, I advertised it on Camplify for $85-95 per night. Within 48 hours it is booked pretty much continuously over Winter, a fair bit of September, Christmas and bookings right up until April 2019! Over the last 2 months we have earned on average $1500 per month from our van. Given that we pay $161 per week on the finance (only 2 years to go and it's paid off yay!) that's not a bad revenue stream! I've created a simple accounting system as we will have to declare the income at tax time, but have learned that we can offset this with the purchase price, repayments, depreciation as well as all the purchases we made for the van e.g. kettle, TV etc.

So something that we use for our family time, is providing us with a nice little revenue stream when we aren't using it! Do you have a caravan sitting in the drive for 6 months a year????? You might look at it a bit differently now lol! :) STOKED!
