STILL down under (and plan for it to be that way forever!). We move into our new home 1st March 2016, and with just small overpayments on our mortgage each week, we will be mortgage free in just 13 years
.
Life is good, I hope it is treating all of you well.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Hi all,
Was flicking through the debt free challenges page. I just wanted you all to know that here I am still loving life down under, still debt free and sensible. I reckon I'm still this way only because it was such a hard road to get here. I'm watching a friend here make all the mistakes we made, and it's heartbreaking.
I've just made a list of challenges I'm going to do with her to try and get her on the right track. So far we are going for make $10 a day for February. Once we complete that I'm going to get her to do a payment a day for a year. I'll make mine to my mortgage
I reckon some NSDs wouldn't go a miss either. Love to you all xxLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Hi Gargrave, I read your complete diary a couple of years ago. Well done ! Glad you are enjoying life Down Under still. I am in Tassie. Your diary struck a chord as my daughter lived in the UK for 13 years and was planning to return with English husband and 2 dogs. It took 18 months or so but they are all here now in Tassie with Husband and dogs really settling in. I told her about your diary - selling everything that wasn't nailed down and they followed your example selling everything possible and having a MASSIVE declutter.
All the best baglady :beer:0 -
This is so positive, I'm glad to that now you are moving into new house your first thought is how fast can we get this mortgage gone!
I've no doubt it wont even take 13 years!
I'm a little bit jealous of your life in the sunshine though0 -
Great to hear you're still around and life is treating you well.

Thanks all! I've just been sharing Martin's MSE principles with my colleagues. Now everyone has snuck off to computers to analyse their weekly grocery spends! Wishing you all well xLBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

Totally hooked on a new book. He sounds like the Aussie version of Martin Lewis Mr MSE himself!!! It's called the Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape. I've read it twice in 2 days, plus he has a Facebook page. He has an unusual approach to domino your debt, might be worth a look?! Hope you are all well. I'm considering starting a Facebook page called Money Saving Mummy Australia! Teaching people many of the valuable things I learned on this page like using loyalty schemes to the max, meal planning, surveys for vouchers etc.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free
