Watched it last night, you all look so happy :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hi all,

Sorry it took so long but back to say Hi! Have been incredibly busy!

Glad you all liked the programme. Well thankfully I no longer resemble the heffer on the TV programme as I've been doing Herbalife for 6 weeks and dropped 10kgs. God its bloody expensive, but on the bright side it saved me money on food........;)

So I'm looking and feeling better, still enjoying life enormously and feverently money saving. The day the programme was aired my brother who I haven't seen in 15 years found me on facebook. I had a falling out with my parents 15 years ago when he was just 15, and left the family home never seeing any of them again. Turns out he has been searching for me for the last ten years, but as he didn't know I was married etc didn't know my name until the programme aired and he found me on good old facebook!

Anyway, breakneck speed forward and he arrives in Australia next Friday for a 2 week holiday! Can't wait :D

    Hi All!

Just having a lazy morning and updating my monthly budget spreadsheet. My OH has secured a job with more money plus plenty of overtime, we've taken up camping as a hobby with a few other families we are friends with. Some initial outlay but overall a great and cheap way to spend weekends in this beautiful country.

I'm still doing lots of DFW things like transferring the odd amount in the account to savings at the end of every day, meal planning and have a sealed jar etc.

We also have a big tupperware which all the loose change has been thrown into, it's full so I'm going to head to the bank to pay it into our savings. You are all never far from my mind, and as it turns out my bestie here was also a MSE follower back in Scotland! We've been going out for girlie walks along the beach at night and comparing MSE tips.

And that was when...............we came up with an idea for a business. Aiming to start 2016. Basically we both emigrated and had very different experiences, they already knew someone in Australia - we didn't. We are looking to help people emigrating by providing a one stop shop to set up your new life. Providing guidance on how to get your ID sorted, driving licences etc changed over, negotiate preferential rates with local car hire etc, and most importantly, we are buying an investment property to let as a furnished rental whilst people wait on their belongings being shipped. Anyway there's alot more to it, but it's sounding good and we just have to complete our business plan for the bank now. The one we stayed in when we arrived is fully booked until December 2015 and his rates start at $700 pw off season, and let's just say it was OK but not great. We are confident we can provide a better product with full support to families who arrive.

On that note, just had an email from Wanted Down Under, they are reshowing our revisited week beginning 16th February :)

We have also arranged a once a month girlie get together. This month it's a champagne breakfast overlooking the beautiful Swan River. Bought via Scoopon, costing $8.25 a head (around 4.50 GBP). Next month it's a lunch for 4 including a bottle of wine, different restaurant but overlooking the same beautiful river $12.50 per head. That way we can feel like we are having a treat, but managing to keep the costs down. One friend has just taken 3 weeks off (self employed so no income) and has moved house recently so finding things tight financially, another friend is finally taking control of her debt and made a plan to pay it off. We are being supportive friends by finding frugal things to do together eg the beach walks for a catch up, or grabbing great Scoopon deals for our treats ;)
