Hey Seaxwyn sorry to hear things aren't that good. I know what you are saying about DMP's im the same i keep sticking my head in the sand so to speak as im scared that things wouldnt go to plan and then id be in a worse position than before.
Its good that you have arranged the things for the kids you need to try and get some kind of balance... between debt busting and actually having a life.
The good points like you say are that everyone is healthy and you are still running which is more exercise than im doing so good on you for keeping that up!
Keep your chin up and we will all get there in the end

Hi buddiebabe. Thanks for your message.
I started running when I saw an ad saying a local athletics club was doing a free beginners course. It was one hour a week over 12 weeks, and they promised to get you up to running for 25 minutes. At that time I struggled to run for two minutes. The course was great, we had a lovely encouraging coach, and I made friends with some of the others including one who is still my regular running partner. Sure enough by the end of the course we could run about 3 miles, which felt like the most amazing achievement.
The structure was that we interspersed running and walking, gradually increasing the running and decreasing the walking. I probably have the schedule somewhere if you would like me to scan and send it.
The key for me was having the structure of the course - and then having other people to run with. It takes a lot of motivation to keep going, especially at the start when you feel that everyone must be looking at you (not true I am sure). But I am really glad I did it, my weekend runs are now the highlight of my life! And I am about to start another course at the same club, which is for people who want to run 10km faster. Good luck if you decide to take up running. If you can find a friend or colleague who is interested that will be the biggest help.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Today my debt stands at £28,957,54. I paid of £1005 in July! :j:j:j
That's the first substantial drop since April. And despite paying a big tax bill and taking ten kids camping for a couple of nights (and buying them pizzas....) Only possible because I at last received my freelance pay and also got a Tax Credit rebate.
On the downside, my NatWest overdraft is still nearly £1800 - I really want to find a way to get this to £0, and even more urgently I need to find £540 to stop it going UP this month.
I have about £100 worth of freelance work to invoice for, a couple of shifts at the shop in August, and am starting a paper round next week. I will put all this money in the NW account and try to live out of the other one. Even so, I need to find some more money somehow.
My take home pay will go up this month and presumably my tax credits too, but I don't know by how much. Onwards and upwards (or downwards).
PS - just spotted I have paid off 3k in 7 months, I am doing better than I thought!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hey
Thats great news about your debt :j especially with all your various outgoings. It shows you can do it. Good luck finding the money you need to get your OD down im sure you can do it.
Thanks for the tips about running. I don't really have the time to go to a club or do a course cause of my 2nd job but i do need to do something so think its going to be a case of getting up early and going for a walk and trying to run for a bit of it to see how i get on. I would love to be able to do a run for charity so will maybe make that a goal for next year to see if i can get into running and be fit enough to do one of those.

I am hoping to find the time to read through your threads and find out how things have been. Please forgive me for not being an advert follower.

Hi
I have just spent the last week or so reading both threads - I 'saw' you on SarahNeedles thread.
I am also a great procastinator - in fact reading your diary has been a perfect excuse :rotfl:
Good (in an odd way) that there is someone else who is a member of the 'My OH - Grrrrr ' club!!!
I am lucky with my OH that despite his depression he has always had a job, even during his severe depression's he has been on full pay which has helped.
Hope you manage to get your finances sorted so they don't cause you so much stress every month.
