Oh don't worry, I have made it very clear that continuing with the status quo is not an option. And he does see that in his poor befuddled way. His doing a carboot sale at the weekend was a definite statement of trying to help. And he is applying for lecturing work at the local college. But all too little and too late really. By the way congrats on hitting your weight loss target - and so quickly!

I do think that a DMP is probably right for you. I also understand your doubts, and concerns, and perhaps the general "meh" about the whole thing - very emotional. But, think about the relief once the whole thing is set up, when you can afford to "live".....

Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss - but some of it was kind of quick after OH left - eating next to nothing for weeks has a definite effect on the scales! Then I decided to take control, I can't control much of the crap that happens in my life, but I can control how much cake I scoff!

And getting back into the exercise will hopefully help keep it off - here's hoping!

Hi seaxwyn....glad you haven't ruled it out.
I'm afraid I agree with every single point that Hypno made..so really can't add any more.
I was horrified to see that you are doing the shop, freelance work and your normal job!!!!..if that isn't enough and your OD is getting bigger then how can you possibly fit anymore in....you are going to make yourself very ill with all this stress and worrying...your health is so important please don't make yourself ill xxx

Hey Seax, whilst his input is welcome, you can't rely on it and that is the problem really. I like what the CCCS rep said about who is paying what. It is a good point.

Honestly Seax you have come so far, there is NO SHAME in putting a hand up for help now...

And when at Christmas you can actually afford something other than socks for the kids won't it be worth a few phonecalls now...?
    good luck

Setting aside the DMP question, which I am still thinking over.... some other financial news.

I called HMRC just to confirm the amount of tax due in July (£855 as I thought) and ended up having a long chat with a really helpful man (thanks Iqbal). It came to light that since starting my full-time job I have been on the wrong tax code. He has changed that and I should get I estimate £120 more take-home pay every month, and a refund of all the overpaid tax. I think our July payroll has already been done so I hope I should get this in August.

OH has applied for work as a sessional lecturer at the local art college. It's only a 10 minute bike ride from here so if he gets that we can surely get rid of the car.

I am due £1200 freelance pay - really hope it comes before the tax is due as that client can be a slow payer. I did another £100 worth of work on Thursday, which I won't bill till I get the £1200 to avoid confusing them!

Also have agreed to do a paper round for two months Aug and Sept. Before you all protest I really don't mind delivering papers. I am an early bird anyway and positively enjoy walking through all the gardens and seeing the birds before work each day.

Hi buddiebabe. Thanks for popping in. Things are not so good here - still struggling along with the overdraft gradually increasing.

I have not had a proper conversation with OH about the DMP option, partly as I am wimping out of thinking about it and partly as my income is going to change now that my tax code has been changed. Also we are getting rid of the car, I am due a big freelance payment etc etc, so I thought I would keep going until all these changes have taken place.

Also I have serious doubts about DMPs too. I have been reading the various threads on here and for every post that says "it's the best thing i have ever done" there is another that says "nine months on and I'm still being hounded. XXX bank has upped my interest" etc. As most of my debts are on low or no interest I really don't want to risk having charges and interest added. It does seem to me that the people who get DMPs easily accepted are those that have been not paying for a while already.

Anyway.... I know this is defeatist/denial talk but that is where I'm at at the moment.

I am due a big freelance pay cheque and it is so late! I was hoping the money would appear today but nada.... Really fed up about that as I am relying on it to pay my tax bill.

Also have agreed that the kids can go to various festivals and camps which all have to be paid for. Some I have negotiated reduced or staged payments, which is a help.

On good news, my running is coming along nicely, everyone is healthy and happy, even OH seems to be rising out of his gloom.
