A ghostly suggestion from a lurker.

Nice one! There's a page on that website about the coastline in general, this one http://www.visitliverpool.com/merseycoastandcountry/coast/seftons-natural-coast - and it really is fantastic - you get these dunes, some with tussocky grass, others just sand, and then flat sand out towards the sea - where the racehorses practice, a little further up the coast. And behind the sand dunes are huge native pines - very tall, and not a little spooky in themselves, the area is big enough to get lost in. And *underneath* the sand dunes is a caravan park - the sea is encroaching, and the dunes are retreating in tandem. Add to that the prehistoric tree stumps that show at low tide, and the church bells ringing as the low tide shifts to incoming, and you've got layers and layers of ghosts.....
Seaxwyn, I have to read whatever it is you write!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thank you!! Grumpelstiltskin - by spooky coincidence there is already a story about those sculptures on the website that is running the competition. I would love to see them.
Karmacat - I love the idea of a caravan park swallowed up by the sea... you may have written the first 100 words of my story! But why not write one yourself - see the link Chev posted above.
I am now off to read up on Pendle Hill and the Mersey Coast.

Hey Seax you are welcome. glad i have sparked some creative juices or something lol.
Well done on OH doing a car boot. Just the fact that he went, no matter what the money made is a plus isn't it?
And good luck with you ongoing thinking about a DMP.
Just a thought but have you had a look at the DMP and living with it thread? They would certainly give you alot of advice about it, and maybe reassure you?

You're welcome - I love those sculptures, Seaxwyn, they're amazing - the number you can see varies with the state of the tide, and once when I went there, you couldn't see any at all, with the tide being so rough and so high... its a great place.
I did wonder about writing something myself - though I love writing, I've never written a short story at all, ever.
As Chev said, glad the juices are flowing :j

Hi all. The CCCS call went OK and gave me lots of food for thought. The CCCS lady was very direct (perhaps Chev in disguise?) - at one point when I said something about being up to date with my loan she said, "You're not paying your loan, NatWest is."
They recommended a DMP and I see that it would make life tons easier, to be paying less each month but have the debt reducing faster. That's if the creditors accept it of course, and I have some fears they wouldn't. Anyway, have printed out the book for OH to read and will discuss it with him once he's done that.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
From the little I know about DMPs, I cannot see why they wouldn't accept it. You read very little on this site about creditors NOT accepting DMPs, although many reject IVAs because they don't get all their money back with IVAs, whereas with DMPs they are getting back everything they have lent out, albeit without the addition of interest, but then they have had a ton of interest out of you already, so they haven't really lost out.
And the danger to them is that you can't afford to repay at all, so go bankrupt, so they get nothing back - much better for them to accept a DMP, so I think they generally do.
I am glad that the call went well, and that you have not ruled it out. I know that if it weren't for my job, I would probably have done the same a few years back - I certainly gave it serious consideration on more than one occasion.
It will be interesting to know what OH thinks - considering he is not contributing to the payment of the debt in any way!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

I'm reassured you say that because I feel as I've read lots of posts about creditor NOT accepting DMPs. And as most of our debt is very low interest, I'm afraid that they would actually put interest rates up. The booklet that the CCCS sent out is full of scary info about "what your creditors may do".
I'm feeling more positive about a DMP than I was before but still have a lot of doubts. I would so much rather come up with a way of paying the bl**dy debt back faster by myself!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
There is a chance that creditors won't accept - of course there is, because you signed a contract to pay back plus interest, and you are going back on that.
BUT - the economy has changed, we are drifting in and out of recession and the whole of Europe is up to their eyeballs in debt that they cannot afford to repay.
The institutions have been "encouraged" to be more realistic about the situation, and they know that there is less point than perhaps there used to be, in rejecting reasonable offers to repay. Like I say, the alternative could be that you pay nothing more back, which is certainly not to their advantage!
Of course, if I could see any other way of you reasonably being able to manage this debt, I would suggest it! But the only thing that will do that, is if OH gets a proper job and contributes.
It may be that when he has seen that a DMP is a very real prospect, that he decides that he would prefer to get a job and contribute to the living and debt costs, but for goodness sake, don't make out to him that you can carry on "as you are" because otherwise he will think that is alright by him.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
