Not yet, but I was very excited to pick up a leaflet that says there is one starting in Norwich in August.

I am all up for free races!!

I haven't done it very often as it's a few miles from where I live, but it is a great concept, and a nice atmosphere.

I think the Norwich one will be quite popular. I am eagerly awaiting the date of the first one. The nearest one to me at the moment is 25 miles away, which is too far to go due to the cost of the petrol, so to have one locally will be a great incentive for me to carry on running again.

Also, each month they give a pair of trainers to the person who's made the biggest improvement, so make sure you start slow and gradually speed up over the month.

I only do it occasionally as really I prefer to jog along chatting to my friend, rather than racing.

There is no danger of me NOT starting slowly!!!

I remember many years ago (about 20 ) the running club I went to had a series of 3 10k races in the summer. There was a trophy for the most improved runner over the series. Most people were deliberately putting in a slow run for the first race and a blinder for the last one, but I didn't realise what they were doing and just tried my hardest on all three.

I am pleased to report that I was indeed the most improved runner over the series, and I did it without cheating!

Mind you, there was no pair of trainers on offer at that time, just a trophy......so I might just be prepared to change my tactics somewhat ;)

Thanks Chev, I will definitely have a go at that. A nice project for my commuting train rides. Does anyone know of any Lancashire locations that would make a good setting for a ghost story?

OH only made £23 profit at the carboot sale, but seems satisfied. I have picked up two more Saturdays to work at the shop. And I've arranged for a friend to give me a much needed free haircut.
