Thanks for the straight talking advice too. I may still be mired in deep denial but I am very reluctant to enter a DMP as I think it would make my life MORE stressful. At present I have good relationships with all my creditors,This is because you are working yourself into the ground trying to pay it off. You have no quality of life and they don't care about this.

I never have phone calls, threats, or demands to pay up. From what I've read here all of those are to be expected if you take a DMP. Sometimes this is the case. But not always, and how could this be more stressful than what you are going through every day at the moment? And if you do get calls it is not for ever, only a few months. You just have to remain calm and refer them to which ever organisation that you go with.

I would hate for that to happen, and especially to cause anxiety to the children, for my parents to find out, etc etc. It would only cause anxiety if you don't explain it to them. But though they may hide it well, I would think that if you really sat them down they are quite anxious already about the situation. No matter how hard you shield them from it, it is still impacting on them. You said that you hate that they can't do things, or have things other children their age have. Well in your case, and especially if you do what I suggested - just imput your definite earning, I think a DMP would give you enough money to give them more opportunities going forward.

And to be very blunt, how much more anxious would they be, if you worked yourself into a heart attack or a nervous breakdown, and suddenly there was NO income, and therefore the house got reposessed etc etc. Can you say with your hand on your heart that if you were so ill you couldn't work that your OH would pick up the slack financially?

But I will do the phone interview on Tuesday with an open mind. Please please do this. Ok so you would be paying it off at a slower rate but you would still be paying it off. There may be other options as well as DMP, eg remortgaging (we have a lot of equity in the house). Now come on your know better than to turn unsecured debt into secured.....:)

Meanwhile, 1st July and my debt stands at £29962.80. That is £20.75 less than last month. But still more than in April, and worst of all my NatWest OD is now £2,331. It's hard to see how I'm going to get out of that. By keeping an open mind about a DMP PLEASE.

Well well, better get on with the day. The CCCS interview is on Tuesday morning. Thanks for all your really sensible advice, which I am going to read again.

I really hope that you are having a good think about your alternatives. Sorry if i am so blunt, but I really do worry about you.

    hugs mate

I hope this doesn't sound horrible, its meant as a kind of question, and definitely as support.

Karmacat, the big drop of nearly two grand this year mainly happened in January, as a result of doing lots of freelance work in December. Even I am not in too much denial to see that it is not really reducing at present.

I'm not suggesting you are, Seaxwyn - I was just asking about how the two strands on your thread come together, thats all, and hoping that that might open up a way through for you.

I'm sure you haven't hacked her off, chev. Seaxwyn doesn't post as regularly as in years gone by, so don't worry that she hasn't been about for a couple of days.

anyway, I am sure she will appreciate your honest input - that is, after all, what this site is all about!

Hi Chev, not at all hacked off! I am used to your straight-talking style by now - and I appreciate it. It's always really helpful. I will definitely pay my full attention to the CCCS interview and listen to their advice.

Right now I am sorting stuff out for a carboot sale tomorrow - OH is doing it! Hoorah!

On other news, I took 33 seconds off my personal best in a 5km race this morning, which I'm chuffed about, and also things are moving forward in a campaign I'm involved in to restore some derelict athletics facilities locally, which is fantastic news.

Yes it was the local parkrun in Banstead Woods (which is apparently the hardest of all the parkruns, as we have a hill!). Do you do one?
