Well amazing news, today I was offered the management job and I accepted it. We did not talk money, I expect I will get an offer when all the details of start date etc are sorted out. I agreed that I will do the new job four days a week and elements of my old/current job one day a week til next spring.
I know it will be stressful. Among other things I have to deal with some personnel issues and an emerging budget crisis. But, as Hypno says, I think the 9-5 stress will be easier to manage than the 24/7 money anxiety.
Other good news, I've got this month's payslip which is £540 higher than usual thanks to the change of tax code. And OH seems to have got on well at his interview today. There is no immediate job offer on the table, but he will be included on the sessional rota to be called on as and when needed. I feel sure it will lead to good things. He has been much more upbeat recently so I hope things will start moving for him too.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Thanks everyone, I can't really believe it myself. I had got so used to always being poor and without hope that things would change. I don't know yet what salary they will offer. I seriously doubt it will be as much as they paid the last person. But it has to be a big rise from my current 30k. I hope I can hold my nerve when negotiating! Thanks all for the lovely comments and encouragement.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
