Thanks everyone! Taka, yes he has been referred for some counselling. I will also show him that book you recommend, thanks! I'm a bit anxious about how the medication will affect him, and also that he will use the 'label' as an excuse to stop making any effort. We'll see. He is doing two hours driving tomorrow, which is something.

I got briefed on the job and yikes, it's daunting. Oh well, I can do it!
I hope both the meds and the counselling help him. :) For me I found going on them made me more able to do things and I only had very minor side effects. I was just glad that someone knew and understood what I was feeling and I wasn't going mad! (well no more than normal anyway :rotfl:) I'm not sure what those around me noticed - my bouts of depression were very closely linked to my eating disorder problems so it'd be hard to say what differences meds alone made. In conjunction with CBT/counselling I certainly started to get better after taking them...

Good luck with the job... there is nothing like a challenge! :p

Hi Seaxwyn - things sound like they're steady or on the up for you, well done, for you and oh - I hope the work this weekend is going okay - don't spend too long on here!

I did just want to say, tho, that Mark Williams, who wrote the book that taka recommended, is brilliant - that dreadful CBT guy I went to a couple of years ago gave me a Mark Williams CD and its just right, several non-Buddhist, non-religious meditations of various lengths, including one of only 4 minutes.

This is the book my bloke recommended:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mind-Over-Mood-Change-Changing/dp/0898621283/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264346523&sr=1-1

and the book is good, even if he wasn't, but I'd go with Mark Williams myself, given the choice now.

    hey

I take citalopram - they are great - they have really helped me and the only side effects I've had are needing a LOT of sleep - so am going to discuss that with my doc this week, but it could also be to do with the fact I am a lazy moo and my diet isn't bursting with energy giving food either :)

Hi y'all. Well I managed to do that freelance job over the weekend, and the client was happy and I can invoice £200 woo hoo!

AND I've now got another one to do, from a different client, another £200 if I can do it before the end of Wednesday. So I'm starting now. I can't believe how lucky I am to get this well paid work which can fit around work hours, just about.

Another stroke of luck, DD3's ten-day scout camp in Italy costing £500 has been cancelled, and instead the scouts are going on a 7-day camp to Wales costing £180. Phew!

1st of the month update. I paid off £1064.55 in January. The credit card component reduced by £281.79.

This is the sixth consecutive month the total has gone down, and the first ever January that it hasn't gone up, I am pleased about both those things.

Not so good is that we had a lot more go out than come in in January. The debt only reduced as I had a bumper freelance payout in December.

Otherwise things are going well. OH seems to have more energy and enthusiasm, I hope this translates into searching for a job.
