Thanks Mooloo, and happy Christmas to you and yours too.

I still feel a bit stunned by the £58 turkey but I have a huge family and will be feeding half of them on Christmas Day and half on Boxing Day. I also bought several 9p jars of curry sauce, we too will be eating turkey curry til February I hope.

Once Xmas is over I hope to make a decent overpayment too so taxi please don't worry that I have completely lost the plot.

I can't believe turkeys can cost £58 or even £70..that's horrendous.

It's weird isn't it when chickens are so cheap. How much harder can they be to rear?

Mine is a very large, happy local turkey.......well, it probably was happy until it was reminded yesterday that Christmas is upon us

It is still loads of money...how do most families afford that amount.We haven't bought turkey for a number of years but never recalled them being that expensive..I'm in total shock!!!

I agree it's a huge amount to pay for one item, but when you think of the number of servings you get out of it, it doesn't seem so extortionate. I don't know anything about turkey farming but I suppose that the farmers have to make their whole year's profits in just one week, which must distort the economics a bit.
