Well good morning everybody :hello: :j
I went out for a drink (well, OK, three) with XBF after work yesterday at the Market Porter, which is a lovely real ale pub near where I work. When I got home I did a Thai curry with leftover chicken, reduced (dented) tin of coconut milk, and a curry pack from Lidl - and left the kitchen looking like a bomb site
When I went back into the kitchen to tidy and do the washing up it was FREEZING, so I put the heating on and snuggled up in bed to keep warm. You guessed it, I fell asleep and didn't wake up until this morning
BUT on the plus side, this meant I was asleep well before 11pm and was up bright and early with my alarm clock this morning! Before leaving for work at 8am I'd done all the washing up, strained the batch of stock that had been sitting in the SC, had a cuppa and taken things out of the freezer for later, and had a good, long, invigorating shower
Off to the opera later with GBF, we have £6 standing-room tickets for Mozart's "Il re pastore" (The Shepherd King). Then undoubtedly we will go for a swift one in the pub. After that, I am going to spend the next 2-3 days on the wagon except for Communion wine on Thursday; the amount of alcohol I've put away over the last couple of weeks is absolutely obscene, and I swear my liver is starting to ache(I keep an alcohol unit consumption diary in the Excel workbook where I also keep my spending diary, to keep myself in check).
Breakfast: blueberry muffin
Lunch: mushroom risotto
Dinner: chicken pasta bake
RacyRed - Ooooooh Newwww Chooooos!!!!!I've not been too tempted yet myself, though there have been a couple of occasions when I've almost spent £200 or so at Patrick Cox! I'm more of a "top-end-high-street-£100-shoes-reduced-to-£50-in-the-sale" sort of girl myself
To all worried about dental bills - if you're on the NHS the new pricing structure means there are now only three flat fees. If all you need is a checkup I think it's £15.50. If you need ANY general work - fillings, even root canal - then the course of treatment including the checkup costs £42.50 no matter how many you need (of course this puts you out of pocket if you just need one or two fillings, but could save a packet if there's a lot of work to be done, as Moggins's DH just found out!). The other price band I can't remember, but it's getting on for £200 and is for work which includes the big stuff like crowns and bridges.
Pooky - WOW!!!! It must be lovely to have relatives who can afford to treat you like that! I'm ever so jealous!
Michelle - PM me if you have any free time over the weekend! I'll be spending most of Sunday afternoon at a loose end in Central London so if you and DH fancied meeting me for a quick coffee you know where I am
LearningToSave - congrats to your littlie on her first steps!
Gotta go now, work to do.

I think the abbreviation GBF was a lot more widely used five or so years ago when a lot of the popular TV shows had main female characters with gay male buddies, like Will and Grace, and Sex and the City.
My GBF is great. We met when he was first in the UK in 2001, and he was temping in my department. Now we work together (on separate sites), go to the opera together, have been on holiday together, and sing together (literally, as we both sing alto) My mum loves him and refuses to believe that he is gay cos she basically wants me to marry him :rotfl:
And he is very popular as a GBF - all his close friends are female. But he's from Sydney and at some point (probably end of this year) he's finally going to have to go home, cos his dad wants to train him up to take over their family business
