:hello: Goooood Morning, Old Stylers :hello:

I'm starting the thread early because I'll be enjoying a nice lie-in tomorrow. :D

Used up the last of my HM bubble bath/oil having a lovely long soak and pampering session, so later today, I plan to make up another batch plus some HM salt scrub. Cleaned up the bath straight after with a soda crystals solution so any oil residue is completely gone and keeps the drains clear into the bargain. :D

B: Muesli
L: HM hummous with pitta and crudites
D: Roast Chicken

Even though I've given the lawn it's first hair cut of the season, there's still a lot of work needs doing in the garden so, time and weather permitting, I hope to be spending an hour out there.

I'm pretty sure this week is National Bread Week so my goal this week is to try out a new recipe or two.
(The walnut bread last week was absolutely gorgeous and the end few slices made the most delicious Apple Charlotte!!)

I've got 3 large tubs of reduced priced whipping cream in the fridge, so I'll be making some HM ice cream with those
Now that the ice cream van has started his rounds for the season, it's worth having some on standby. Never ceases to amaze me how the sound of those ding-dongs can make a child suddenly *desperate* to have ice-cream, but at those prices it much more economical to utilise reduced price cream ;) Besides, a nice blob of ice-cream on top of a slice of toasted HM sultana and cinnamon loaf makes a very nice dessert

These are our favourites, Orange Ice Cream + Chocolate Ice Cream so I'll be making those

Wishing you all a Thrifty Tuesday

Morning Queenie, afternoon Bridie and hello from yesterday Apple Mint :j

Totally sick of night turning into day and day going past in a blur but hey things could be a whole lot worse.

Mmmm National Bread week, okay does the loaf of Warburton's count? Just about to put some in the toaster to have with some shop bought jam or maybe I'll pop some tomatoes into the microwave and call it supper icon7.gif

Good morning Queenie, good morning everyone :hello:

Och hello EdinburghLass, didn't see you there! Wasn't ignoring you at all. Hope the weather in Scotland is a bit nicer than it is in N.Ireland where it's wet and windy.

It is the dreaded insomnia in the house of SnowyOwl...have had a couple of hours kip but v.bad quality, so just gave up and came downstairs for brekkie. This might just send me back to sleep (good!) though the sound of the gale and the rain beating against the windows isn't going to help my slumber.

Last night I made some lovely bran muffins...well OK they aren't as lovely as chocolate muffins, but for a healthy food they aren't too bad. I've even managed to wrap them up and bung them in the freezer - my downfall is often putting that off and in the meantime nibbling until most of the batch is gone. This is especially true for scones, just can't keep my paws off 'em.

Today is another day at that w--k place, and even though it's a normal five day working week in N.Ireland the office should be quiet since the schools are already off for Easter. Next week will definitely be v.v.quiet as we have our two bank holidays on Monday and Tuesday, and most staff it seems are taking the other three days. Not me, I am saving my lovely days off for studying and exams .

Moggins...I do apologise but I forgot to congratulate you yesterday on your achievements in the garden. I am madly jealous that you got so much done, it sounds like you have a fabulous garden. I am always full of good intentions, but they haven't got off the ground (sorry, no pun intended!) just yet. My garden is tiny, and as the house is a new build the garden is still a mud/weed patch. The wild birds love it though, there is a hedgerow and a big tree right behind the garden, and some birds come into the garden and feed there. I think I will feel too guilty to dig it up and put turf down as the birds are obviously v.happy. I got some info from the RSPB recently and I have some rare birds out back - so it's a bit of a dilemma. Maybe one side for the birdies, and one side for me would work? Well, that's for the future, still need blinds, carpets and curtains (I have sheets pinned over the windows & feel like a pleb as everyone else has their houses sorted out).

OK, time for beddy byes again, see you all again in the morning. And as Queenie says wishing you all a Thrifty Tuesday. Bye!

Oh look two lassies in a row. :D

    Good morning everybody,

The icecream recipes look yummy Queenie. Must copy them for my recipe book. Hello Snowy, I always feel sad when I still see you up. I know how frustrating it must be for you not to sleep so well.

W**k was quite busy today. Gave in my notice which was I was dreading but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still no word from ex DIL. I will call her tonight and see what's up. I've made a quiche tonight for tea. There should be enough for tomorrow night as well. Well I'm off for a surf before I resume my chores. Have a lovely day everyone & (((((hugs)))) who need them.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning Everyone!!

    Hope everyone is OK.

An OK night here last night sleep wise. DD slept in with me as she had a bad dream and OH slept in her bed:rolleyes: No needle nurse today as I had a double lot yesterday.

WM has been put on and hopefully the weather will be OK to hang out. DW needs to go on after breakie and the toilet has been cleaned. SIL is here today so she's doing some stuff around the house and all me ironing for the week:D

DD & OH are sanding down the garden furniture and decking today and tomorrow then painting it all with a special paint-so all should come up lovely and new.

Am receiving a free roll today as the one my OH bought(baguette, coronation chicken, lettuce, onion) me yesterday had some turkey not chicken in it:eek: and I loathe turkey! I called and complained and they offered a nice fresh one today instead-so me lunch is sorted and it better be chicken today. Its a good job i dont have an allergy!

OH bought 4 loaves of reduced bread yesterday so will make a weeks worth of sarnies and put in the freezer for DD for next week lunches, then they can be pulled out daily.

Anyway, Id best go as I need a bath in a while and OH has just handed me a nice strong cuppa tea in me fav cup and saucer:D

    Breakie: Dippy Egg & Soldiers
Lunch:Baguette me, OH, DD & SIL Cheesy Beans on Toast
Dinner: Toad In Hole, Mash or Roasties? Cauliflower and peas.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

    PP

    Morning everyone.

It is a wet and windy morning here. Very miserable.

Well another day at work today so again not much doing. Have a team meeting at work today. We have these every month and the point is to get together with the whole team and discuss serious work stuff. In reality it is just an excuse for a chat and a skive.

    Breakfast: fruit salad
Lunch: mixed pepper rolls with tuna/pepper/mayo, yoghurt, banana
Dinner: left over chicken from yesterday mixed with mushroom soup and veg and covered in puff pastry.

Must go as time is getting on.

    Have a great day.

    Morning!

Not a lot to say here really, w**k was mega busy yesterday and quite exhausting. The self defence class wiped me out on sunday and I slept so well, its inspired me to take up some form of exercise - a girl at w**k and I are thinking Kickboxing as we actually want to do sparring and stuff.

Today will be fairly boring at w**k - im hoping it isnt too busy though and im finishing at 4pm anyway. Need to cut the boyf's hair tonight as he actually has a job interview tomorrow!! I hope he gets it as we really could do with another wage coming in - it means ill be able to afford to take up a sport!

Anyway, im off to get ready,

    Have a lovely day all!

    Jo xx
