There was an element of sarcasm in my post in case you missed it and I can read perfectly well thank you   <-- See look, I can use this smilie too, aren't i smug and clever :)

What I don't understand is why you are getting your knickers in such a twist over it. Firstly, the guy asked for advice about a car seat and secondly its none of your business what he feeds his baby.

My knickers are perfectly untwisted, thank you :) You may have missed that I took some trouble to answer the question about car safety before commenting on the on-going discussion about weaning. And you're right, it's none of our business what he feeds his baby, unless of course he himself brings it up as relevant information in an interent forum, in which case I feel perfectly entitled to comment on it ;) Don't worry, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it though.

As for the sarcasm, yes I guessed that that's what it was, good for you :T Whether it makes for constructive discussion or not is a matter of opinion.

Whenever I read 'discussions' like this, i'm always amazed at how everyone has always fed their children a strict diet of healthy fruit, vegetables and water. They are also obviously the most healthiest and fantabulous children ever who don't ask for chocolates or sweets and would rather have a nice healthy piece of fruit or tofu or similar.

I think I must have gone wrong somewhere because although my kids diet have always been healthy with the odd occasional treat, they would rather eat a big heaping bowl of chocolate covered in sweets then anything else.

Where the hell did I go wrong?

This is true though not just with this thread but quite a few others i've followed on here. People preaching on and on as if they're the only ones who've ever had kids.

It would definately make me think twice about posting for advice especially if I was a first time inexperienced Mum. I'd be too scared of being made to feel totally inadequate.

As The OP or his Missus said (hard to know which really but I think her grammar is better). We should be more worried about the kids who aren't being fed.

At the end of the day OP (love him or hate him) was simply a proud first time Dad showing off about his son. The stuff about Curry, pickled onions and chineses buffets are just thrown in to ruffle a few more feathers and you have to admit hes bloody good at it.
How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?

I do take your point, however I doubt that a first time inexperienced Mum would be treated in the same way as these two who clearly showed from the start that they give as good as they get. At the end of the day, they (and a couple of others who share their sense of humour) are the ones who have kept bringing up junk food, presumably for the shock value.

If you look on the Britax website they have a facility that shows which of their car seats fit which cars but we also got advice from Road Safety dept of local council as they were trained in checking/advice for carseats and obviously they aren't biased towards one make/model. You can even go to them and they checked if seat fitted properly...dont know if your local council does the same, this was Havering in London

  • Hi

My husband and I are expecting our first child in July and need to buy a carseat. We have bought most things secondhand or discounted but safety is our greatest priority with a carseat so cost for is not really an issue.

We live in London and like a lot of people here don't own a car. We do however hire cars several times a year to go on holiday and to visit friends and family. I know that all carseats don't fit all cars so I am lost as to how to decide which carseat to buy. A maxicosi would fit the buggy we're buying but I don't know whether that would be the best make for our situation - do they fit most cars? does anyone have a list of the cars it does fit? Any advice would be appreciated.
