Advice needed - baby car seat questions (merged)

To the OP and others who commented on how healthy the baby looks - I was never expecting him to be spotty, obese etc. I was more concerned about his internal health. Salty processed food (ie gravy) is not good for the kidneys.
It's about getting kids into good habbits as well.
I just fail to understand why anybody would give a baby chocolate, it is totally beyond me.
He can't of asked for it, he wouldnt have a preference for it (if he had never had it before) so why introduce it into his diet?0 -

i bought organic jars when my youngest had his butternut squash addiction and my husband broke the blender. i am so lazy that i carried on buying jars instead of pureeing my own squash. even more shameful, i used to empty the jar food into a tub for baby group so nobody knew i hadn't made it myself :rotfl:
i used to make most of his food but i found jars better on days out, for example if we were going to alton towers for the day i preferred jars for his later meals, rather than freezing, warming etc. home-made food.
I'm with you on that one! I dont like the thought of food lying around all day and then possibly not being heated properly so I use jars on days out too.
I don't think jars are a problem when used every now and then. Most of them are very good nowadays with organic wholefoods and no added junk.0 -
miserly_mum wrote: »God no...... its much better fun bringing the jar out and listening for the sharp intakes of breath followed by the whispering in corners.
:T:rotfl:
it's easier to warm if it's in a tub though, the necks of jars are fiddly for getting a spoon in to mix it up.
my friend used to stop off at KFC on the way to the NCT baby group. she got some filthy looks, especially when her baby started eating her chips
she made me laugh once, when she gave me a lift to tesco and i bought some jars of baby food. she wouldn't buy the butternut squash flavour because she thought they shouldn't have nuts at a young age :rotfl: i dread to think of the reaction if she'd said that at the NCT group 'bad mothers club' member 13

dinner (aka lunch) might get pushed out too about 2pm or when he screams then tea (aka dinner) with either a) a chinese all you can eat buffet b) sunday dinner carvery c) home made meal of some sort
If its chinese again, kinda likes putting his hand into the sweet and sour sauce / prawn crackers and put them all over clothes, hair, face, mouth etc.
Good job he is free, dont think he gets the value of £9 inside him.
You stupid man.
This is obviously a wind up. Who would give their baby sweet and sour sauce with all that sugar, salt and MSG in it.
It might be funny to you, but I really don't think that your child's health should be a subject of jokes on the internet.
Go home, spend some time with your little boy, learn about nutrition and child safety and stop posting this ridiculous stuff!

He has been eating solids for about 2-3weeks, which we found he would quite happily do, he spends most of the day in the walker we bought him about 2 months ago.miserly_mum wrote:Even when he mentioned the babywalker it was assumed he MUST be leaving the baby in it all day and that would damage his leg muscles etc etc.
I assumed nothing when it was mentioned, it was specifically stated and that he had been in it from 3 months old - babies legs are not designed to be supporting their weight at that age and no government department has told me that, its common sense.0 -
God love you Felicity. Do climb down from your high horse, look after your child as you see fit, but do let others bring theirs up as they see fit.
I stated in an earlier post how mine were raised and in all honesty they are fit healthy adults with fit young children of their own. Raised in the way that I saw fit at the time. Ways that would be frowned at now maybe.
The time when you know if you have done the best for your children is when they are grown up. Believe you me we all make mistakes.
Do come back in a few years and let us know if you have managed to raise the perfect human being won't you?Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
Morning all, today is the day we head off to majorca for a week.0

miserly_mum wrote: »That is absolute rubbish. You obviously haven't had a very hungry baby. Yes the OP is winding you lot up because you wouldn't answer the original question (about the car seat). But if you think every child is the same in relation to weaning you are very much disillusioned.
How did mothers manage years ago before all the Government guidelines? (which constantly change).........Very,very well
If it makes you all feel better to faff about over weaning times then fine......... but when normal people are getting a good nights sleep with contented.full up babies you can all sit there with your perfectly looked after off spring who would probably benefit from a good feed.(quite literally)
I've had 6 children, some breast fed some not. Some weaned early some not.(depending on circumstances at the time). Do you know the difference..............? Bugg*r all
I agree, how did they all manage years ago without the help of a *government * *Rule book* My mum breastfed me til I was 3, I was a stubborn little mule and would not have anything else. I used to eat solids at what I believe was an early age, I screamed all day and all night but it wasn't cause I was hungry!!!
However all children are different, My son didn't sleep through til he was almost 8 months old, he would scream all night long when he was put in his cot and would only sleep either in my arms or on my bed. After 1 month of perseverance he was put in a bed and slept through the night ever since! My daughter on the other hand has slept through from being 3 weeks old, she was weaned at around 7-8 weeks due to reflux and being a hungry baby! Every child is different, it is not upto some idiot who does not know your child to decide when you wean them! You are the childs mother and You know what is best for your child. They will tell you when they are ready!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
natalie1974 wrote: »I did but they were the organic jars of baby food , my DD2 would only these and hated home made food until she was about 10 months old . Does this make me bad then ?
With my son almost every meal was out of a jar or packet. I very very rarely gave him home mad food, however with my daughter I do 99% of home made food ..... can I join the bad mums club as I give my daughter jars if we are out and about and I know there is nothing I can give her foodwise where we are going.
Oh and for all those who criticise, then my daughter is 10 months old, she has fruit and veg on a daily basis, she is well within the guidelines of her weight  however she is a very chunky baby. Oh and she eats anything and everything, from Pizza, to chips, to sausages, to sausage rolls ... she will try anything. I even gave her curry the other night, albeit a Korma but she ate it
Oh and for the person who complained about the sweet and sour sauce .... get off your high horse, they make sweet and sour baby food in a jar!!! I have given my daughter sweet and sour sauce (home made) previously and she also loved it!!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
