Absolute godsend!!! Was given gaviscon infant on prescription first and did nothing,

    Oh thanks for that.

I'm amazed that this thread is still growing strong. It's hilarious and I would guess the diet shockers are completely untrue. :rotfl:

If they (sadly) are, then it's down to either education and/or extreme laziness on the parents part. I have never met anyone would would use jars of food regularly as opposed to 'real' homemade food for babies. But that is also because I have never met adults who live solely on KFC, pizzas and other processed ready meals void of necessary nutrients from supermarkets. But they probably exist and if parents eat like this, then they are unlikely to be providing nutritious healthy meals for their children.

I am still shocked that my Grandmother bought my 2 year old (years ago) a huge bag of Cadburys buttons for Easter. I was horrified and wondered what on Earth my 2 year old needed this huge bag of chocolate for. I let her have some but in hindsight really really wished I hadn't. Totally unnecessary. Did Granny really think it was appropriate? That was a large part of the shock btw. But most of my NCT group gave their toddlers a few buttons after their (homemade!) evening meal. For pudding, after a fruit/yoghurt course. Why??????????????????????

Years on I know this pales into total insignificance, but sugar/processed carbs are a huge problem across the country. :D

I did but they were the organic jars of baby food , my DD2 would only these and hated home made food until she was about 10 months old . Does this make me bad then ?
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !
  • gosh, you're terrible :p

i bought organic jars when my youngest had his butternut squash addiction and my husband broke the blender. i am so lazy that i carried on buying jars instead of pureeing my own squash. even more shameful, i used to empty the jar food into a tub for baby group so nobody knew i hadn't made it myself :rotfl:

i used to make most of his food but i found jars better on days out, for example if we were going to alton towers for the day i preferred jars for his later meals, rather than freezing, warming etc. home-made food.

Well now I am angry, you are insinuating that my non-weaned child is not content and could 'benefit' from a good feed. How rude.

No, because you know whats right for YOUR baby and that is as it should be.

The OP came on asking for advice and instead was subjected to a barrage of abuse, which is apparently acceptable if its someone quoting chapter and verse about government guidelines on weaning ad infinitum ( a subject totally unrelated to the question the OP asked).

Several posters were even assuming that the child in question must be obese which from the photos we can see is not the case. Now don't tell me that thats a "normal" chain of thought. OP said he was giving his son chocolate, not lard pies.

Nobody likes having their parenting skills brought into question, even you obviously. When I give my opinion (which is just as relevant as anyone elses on here) its seen as being rude. Yet its perfectly acceptable for others to slate the OP left right and center and everyone joins in.

I know Alias Omega is good for it a lot of the time as he is a wind up merchant. In this case however he was asking a genuine question regarding his son and I feel hes justified with being angry with some of the comments being posted.

Even when he mentioned the babywalker it was assumed he MUST be leaving the baby in it all day and that would damage his leg muscles etc etc.

BTW I don't presume that having 6 children makes me some sort of expert, because as we all know each child is different and there is no set formula. What I do have is a slightly different perspective having had babies over a 19 year period where medical advice has differed widely.

God no...... its much better fun bringing the jar out and listening for the sharp intakes of breath followed by the whispering in corners.

not decided yet, kinda packing to go away tomorrow.

dinner (aka lunch) might get pushed out too about 2pm or when he screams then tea (aka dinner) with either a) a chinese all you can eat buffet b) sunday dinner carvery c) home made meal of some sort

If its chinese again, kinda likes putting his hand into the sweet and sour sauce / prawn crackers and put them all over clothes, hair, face, mouth etc.

Good job he is free, dont think he gets the value of £9 inside him.
