No, because you know whats right for YOUR baby and that is as it should be.

The OP came on asking for advice and instead was subjected to a barrage of abuse, which is apparently acceptable if its someone quoting chapter and verse about government guidelines on weaning ad infinitum ( a subject totally unrelated to the question the OP asked).

Several posters were even assuming that the child in question must be obese which from the photos we can see is not the case. Now don't tell me that thats a "normal" chain of thought. OP said he was giving his son chocolate, not lard pies.

Nobody likes having their parenting skills brought into question, even you obviously. When I give my opinion (which is just as relevant as anyone elses on here) its seen as being rude. Yet its perfectly acceptable for others to slate the OP left right and center and everyone joins in.

I know Alias Omega is good for it a lot of the time as he is a wind up merchant. In this case however he was asking a genuine question regarding his son and I feel hes justified with being angry with some of the comments being posted.

Even when he mentioned the babywalker it was assumed he MUST be leaving the baby in it all day and that would damage his leg muscles etc etc.

BTW I don't presume that having 6 children makes me some sort of expert, because as we all know each child is different and there is no set formula. What I do have is a slightly different perspective having had babies over a 19 year period where medical advice has differed widely.

I remember reading somewhere that the OP did state that the baby spends most of his time in his walker.

    You stupid man.

This is obviously a wind up. Who would give their baby sweet and sour sauce with all that sugar, salt and MSG in it.

It might be funny to you, but I really don't think that your child's health should be a subject of jokes on the internet.

Go home, spend some time with your little boy, learn about nutrition and child safety and stop posting this ridiculous stuff!

    IDIOT!

Me :) get off your high horse, they make sweet and sour baby food in a jar!!! I have given my daughter sweet and sour sauce (home made) previously and she also loved it!!! Oh and also you can make your own sweet and sour sauce which doesn't have to have the salt and everything else in it.

If you do not give your baby/toddler a wide variety of tastes and textures then this is how we end up with picky/fussy eaters!!!

Every child is different, it is not upto some idiot who does not know your child to decide when you wean them! You are the childs mother and You know what is best for your child. They will tell you when they are ready!

I'm starting to wonder if people can't read  There have been very few negative comments as to the timing of the OP's decision to wean their child, what has shocked a number of us are the repeated references to junk food as first weaning foods. Not when the child is already eating a well-balanced diet, but AS FIRST WEANING FOODS. The timing only comes into it because the OP explained that the only solids he could get his baby to eat were yoghurt and chocolate mousse. IF THAT'S THE CASE THEN THE BABY WASN'T READY TO BE WEANED AT 4 MONTHS. Period. It doesn't matter how many of us have weaned healthy babies earlier than 6 months (and of course many of us have). (edited to add that of course yoghurt isn't junk food, just totally inappropriate for a baby below the age of 6 months, and certainly not a first weaning food)

RustyFlange, you're quoting Miserly_Mums post which was in direct response to my first post on this thread, so perhaps you'd do me the courtesy of reading my post first (and my second one, in response to M_M) before jumping onto your very own high horse!

As to the original subject on car seat safety, I doubt that the OP is actually going to listen to any of the very sound advice on here. But just in case anyone else is wondering the same thing and makes it to the end of this tedious thread: don't turn your baby forward early, you'd be putting him/her at serious risk! Just because others have done it and nothing bad has happened to them, that doesn't mean that your baby will be fine - what if you do have an accident? Or even just need to brake suddenly? Until his/her head is protruding above the top of the infant car seat or he/she reaches the weight limit of the seat (usually 29 lbs) this is by far the safest way to travel.
  • Whenever I read 'discussions' like this, i'm always amazed at how everyone has always fed their children a strict diet of healthy fruit, vegetables and water. They are also obviously the most healthiest and fantabulous children ever who don't ask for chocolates or sweets and would rather have a nice healthy piece of fruit or tofu or similar.

I think I must have gone wrong somewhere because although my kids diet have always been healthy with the odd occasional treat, they would rather eat a big heaping bowl of chocolate covered in sweets then anything else.

Where the hell did I go wrong?

Really, at the age of FIVE MONTHS OLD?
  • pink butterfly think yourself lucky - both of mine like chocolate but would prefer a huge fruit salad. chocolate is cheaper and takes less time to prepare :rotfl:

mine are lactose intolerant so although they like a bit of choc it has to be limited, but yes you're right they do like sweets sometimes, or a bit of ice cream.

a tip from the bad mums club - if their chocolate is fruit and but you can count it as one of their 5 a day :rotfl:

I will answer my own question that I posted earlier regarding who would give their 5 month old baby sweet and sour sauce from a chinese buffet.

Its the sort of person who would refer to their 5 month old baby as a 'little f****r'.

The OP is obviously an idiot and a wind up merchant so I am going to stay away from this thread now. We are obviously not getting anywhere.

I conclude that the MAJORITY of us do agree that chocolate, yogurt, sweet and sour sauce etc are not appropriate weaning foods for a 5 month old baby.
