My inlaws have it for their car. It's a really good seat and easy to fit. Much easier than the britax. You have to go with what fits your car though. So little money - so much time :mad:0

I have this, as it was the only one in Mothercare that would fit my car. (old style Vauxhall Astra), was initially really annoyed as it is not the cheapest, but now I love it! We have another seat for my OH's car, as the MaxiCosi doesn't fit his car - and I find his (much cheaper) car seat really, really annoying trying to get DD into it!
Not very MSE having to have 2 car seats, but we had the cars before the baby....
I got 10% off mine at Mothercare by opening their storecard (which is now in pieces in the bin...)

Often car seats will now convert with adjustable straps for growing children as now car seats are required for not only toddlers but early years and school age children. A child under a year old needs to be secured in a rear facing seat. To escape injury in an accident, you will need to pick a seat suitable for the child's age and weight. Booster car seats are for children 3 years and up and who weigh at least 40 pounds.0

can anyone offer any thoughts on the following - baby is 18lb 13oz and so is 1 lb under the 9kg limit for a forward facing car sear.....Does anyone know how crucial this limit is to the childs safety, or is it a guideline.....Our boy is already sitting up and turning round in the chair to see us in the front seats, so it would seem safer to us if he was facing this way?
Thanks for any advice.

Why do you think it would be safer? The minimum weight guidelines are only that - a minimum - it is far safer for the child to remain rear facing for as long as possible. Unless his head is over the top of the seat, he will be fine. The main risk of forward facing seats is the strain to immature neck muscles in a crash. Younger babies have weaker muscles and so are much more like to suffer spinal injuries in a forward facing seat. Could he go in the front passenger seat to stop him twisting to see you (although this too is less safe than the back) or do you have an airbag?0

The car seat you have will probably last until he's 28lb - check to see if it's a Group 0 (22lb) or 0+ (28lb). The longer you leave babies rearward facing, the safer they are - in Scandanavian countries children are seated rear facing in cars until they are 4 years of age!
My great nephew was 22 months and still in his Graco Autobaby car seat - and even then he only just got up to the weight limit!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Hi, most car seats say 9mths OR 19lbs. This is because of the weakness in a young babies neck.
Yes, It is safer in general for baby to travel in rear facing seat for as long as possible BUT you have to take your individual situation.
My ds2 was only 11lbs when I put him in a forward facing seat BUT he was 10 months old (Was very very premature) sitting, crawling, pulling up and was always trying to sit up / look round which made it dangerous.
My 1st ds however was very happy in his rear facing seat and stayed in it until he was 15 months and 22lbs.
You need to judge YOUR own baby and situation.0 -

I think you will find that the recommendation is whichever is lower....ie in your case he had a tick for being 10 months but a cross for being 11lbs so they would not recommend it......I must admit we moved DD2 before she got both ticks, but mothercare would not sell us a seat as she was not meeting their criteria!

you could buy a group 0+1 group car seat. I had to get one of these for my DS. It was a Britax first class Si.

If his head is above the rear of the seat you need a new one.0
