We recently had to buy another new car seat for my daughter who is 2.5yrs as her old car seat was involved in a car accident in May. We decided to go for another make of car seat as the original car seat was really expensive. The new one we bought (after doing our homework and several recommendations from friends) is a Maxi Cosy Priory and we bought it online from Halfords for £118.00. We went into a halfords shop to try in my car and see if it was sturdy. I hope that this will be ok for daughter in the next 1.5-2yrs. The maxi cosy has 3 settings to have the car seat at a slant if your child is small or sleeping and as they grow you can turn to get the car seat to go more upright position.

  • Why do you want to move her into a different seat? Is she uncomfortable in her current one? Generally, car seats become less 'safe' the further up the stage range you go, so a stage 2 seat will generally have fewer safety features than a stage 1 - this is particularly true if you're putting a child into a stage that they are not physically ready for. If you can keep her in her Stage 1 without her head poking over the top, then keep her in it as long as you can. The main disadvantge of Stage 2 seats is that most don't have a five point harness, although there are a few that straddle Stage 1-2 that do.

HI, we have a rear facing car seat, maxi cosi plus the isofix base.
we are at the stage of needing the forward facing seat very soon, and i was wondering if we can use the same base that we have got or do we need to buy a seperate base for the bigger seat?

    thanks

The next stage seats come with the ISOFIX part attached, regardless of manufacturer, as far as I know.

As Sagaris said the next stage come with isofix attached, we thought the same as you OP that we could ue the original base for next stage car seat but afraid not, so more expense coming your way....

So there we go, Mrs Alias said she is pregnant, so that means now we will have 1x 6yr, 1x 2yr, 1x newborn in july.

The 6yr has a Graco booster seat with backplate inc support
    The 2yr has a Britax 1-2-3 seat
    Newborn - unknown

Currently drive a 55 Renault Megane II, which we struggle to get an adult between the 2 seats, so nevermind another car seat.

Would want the newborn in the middle with maybe one of them Mamas & Papas bases for ease as the 2yr old has a harness on the seat, whilst the eldest has use of the seat belt.

    Not good....

If you have isofix it shouldn't be too much of a problem. As most of the bases can fit. if you can't find a way around it what about asking your garage to fit a 3 point harness in the centre space. I hate lap straps as I believe they are more dangerous in the case of an accident, so when I have 2 car seats in the back (I'm pg at the min so soon will) I was thinking of doing this (as I have an old car and no isofix,) so DD can go in the middle and then the edge seat is free rather than a middle seat which no one could use iyswim.

Also what about the car seat safety centre, it is in MK but you can phone them and ask their advice. They are completely independant and will tell you the safest way of doing it which ultimately is what you want.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

We have a Citroen Berlingo and get 2 Kiddy Car seats in the back and plenty of room for an adult to sit in between. Can see we'd easily fit a car seat in there too.

Personally would put the baby by the door as it'd be a real faff to get to them in and out easily, having to stretch so far.

We have a Toyota Verso and you can fit 3 child car seats across the back easily. Plus you have the added bonus of 2 fold down seats in the boot.
