Thank you very much Tigerfeet
At least I know to expect another interview anyway!
From a purely selfish prospective I have a job interview next week, and I don't want the interview with the OR right away if I do get the job as taking time off as soon I start work may look a little bad.
After some thought last night I do feel a little better today.0 -
Good to hear things are sounding better......good luck with the job interview as well (i'll keep everytyhing crossed!) remeber as well though the OR will conduct the interview at your convenience..We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

A little update...
I went BR 5 weeks ago yesterday, had the OR interview 3 weeks ago
Not an awful lot has changed, I didn't get phone calls as I hav e changed my number but I still get letters everyday through the mail telling me unless I settle the full balance there will be defaults. At what point do they stop sending these letters? I haven't told any of them, but I may just write a letter soon as my poor postman is developing a bad back
Apart from that things are normal, I am just waiting for my BRO/BRU now, in another thread I was told this could take ages so I am trying not to let this get me down too much
And that's about it really0 -
The OR has upto 8 weeks to let your creditors know you are BR. It will then take a while for it all to filter through those creditors systems.
Just post any letters to yuor OR to deal with, it isn't your problem anymore.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Once again you have helped me Tiger!
Thanks so much0 -
Sorry for the maudlin update but I am well chuffed off
Found a job then was fired today due to failing the creditcheck, plus this week I had a hate filled letter from my dad telling me I have let everyone down, he knew I would never be anything etc etc, to top it off I really want to gamble again. I can't get to my GA meetings as my car is pooped so am just sitting here feeling pretty rubbish.
On the bright side, I really really derserve a break soon so I figure I am a shoein for the lotto this weekend0 -
that's pretty crap for you - was it an fsa registered job that you needed to pass a credit check? can't think of any other job that a credit check would be necessary for your worthiness to do the job!
Have a look at some online GA type stuff - don't know too much about it but there's a thread on these boards somewhere.
Also - how many days now? Don't want to start from 1 again when you have done so well sorting your life out so far. Sun is shining and you have no debt - go for a walk or do anything at all that gets you up and about and doesn't cost money!
Take care and remember me when those numbers come up!0 -
Gambling is frowned upon as a cause of Bankruptcy which is why you're being asked so many questions.
It's highly likely if the main reason you're in the state you are is because of this then a Bankruptcy Restriction Order will very likely be place on you. Your OR will expand on this.
Basically they are saying you were negligently responsible for your own financial demise and could be required to make contributions even once discharged.
Gambling is a depressing addiction not a lot different to alcoholism or drug dependency.
It's sad your father felt he needed to write you a letter that he did, sounds to me like there's a history there.
Strangely I'm in the reverse position. My father has a gambling problem, I've dealt with the fall out from it for the last 5 - 10 years. It is as depressing for those it effects as it is for the person effected.
You need all the help you can get, and I wish you luck with it.0 -
Right then my sweet, none of that, you have done so well up to now and you don't need to start from the begining again. Get over on the support thread on Debt Free Wanabe and get in touch with Gamcare
http://www.gamcare.org.uk/
You can and will get through this.
As for your 'Father' he is an idiot, if he can't see what a wonderful person you are then that is his loss. You have seen you have a problem, you've picked yourself up by the boot laces and you've done something positive to rectify the situation. That is what a strong person does.
Sorry to hear about the job, but there will be something out there for you.
If you do the lottery and win I am afraid the OR will want his cut so make sure the winning ticket has been bought by your OH.
Look after yourself, you've come this far and the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
It wasn't an FSA job at all, it was for a customer helpline when their fridge or washing machine breaks! Very bizarre that it needed a creditcheck but there you go
And you are 100% correct Alan I am very aware I am getting a BRU and I fully derserve it due to my actions. I am just waiting for that bit of good news to hit the doormat, hopefully not this week as I have had enough bad news in the last few days
Alas Tiger I have no OH, not many ladies go for losers with gambling and debt problems these daysI also wouldn't mind at all wining the lotto and paying back what I owe, even if I won just enough to repay the debts and the OR fees I would be over the moon!
Not that I do the lotto so it's pretty unlikey to happen
I have tried Gamcare before but they always refer me to a counsellor who is 30 miles away and I can't reach them sadly0
