Another video sold for £4.99 today, an old Disney one which I would only have got about £2 in eBay for so I'm happy.

My ultra expensive book though only made £20 at the end. There is only one other copy on abe books and Amazon at £150, and I listed at £100 and slowly reduced it every week until I hit £20 and it sold.

I dont really understand your logic on this? A customer looking for a rare book may only come along once a year and their decision to buy is not based on price they will just buy it at whatever the price is.

Consequently, up until the moment of purchase, no one may have even looked at your book and the eventual buyer may have got an amazing bargain.

This idea that people look at every book listed on Amazon but dont buy because the prices are too high is a fallacy.

If you dont mind identifying what the book was I can tell you whether you should have held out for a much higher price.

    Hi

I have decided to list some items on Amazon after reading this thread. I currently have feedback of over 1000 on e-bay but am worried about the chances of selling on Amazon as a new seller with no feedback. I know you have to start somewhere but are people more likely to purchase from someone with plenty of feedback instead of someone with none?

    Your comments will be appreciated.

This is a perfect example of where view counters would be ideal, if you saw that your book was being looked at with no takers you'd eventually decide that you need to alter the price much the same as you would with an ebay listing that wasn't getting any bids after maybe one list and re-list.

Feedback doesn't have quite the same emphasis on Amazon as it does on ebay and it's common for buyers not to leave feedback at all. Just go ahead anyway!

I don't want to hold books though, I need a quick turnover as I can get more books if I want. 4 Months was long enough for me to sit on that book.

Interestingly since selling mine 4 more have appeared on Amazon from £90 to £114 and the original book is now down to £125, I keep watching but none are selling.

    Hi Netty,
I have sold five items within approx 10 days of joining Amazon.

I have read on here of a few items to watch out for at boot sales etc but was wondering if anyone had any more hot tips?

That still suggests that it was the low price which created the sale when in fact it was probably the first buyer to come along bought your cheap copy and possibly would have paid 4 times your price.

Millions of books on Amazon get no viewers whatsoever in years.

Thanks to whoever mentioned Mills and Boons the other day. I just listed some, I was suprised to see that some only have 1 or 2 listed. Fingers crossed that a few sell. I'll keep them a month or two then give them away if they don't sell.
