I use bubble wrap (either new from a big roll, or recycled from previous purchases or the supermarket fruit and veg section) and either brown paper or manilla envelopes. I haven't had a complaint yet, but then I've only had fifteen sales and two feedback.

I have also been known to recycle jiffy bags if it doesn't look too shabby. I sometimes put herbal tea bags and a little note in if I think the buyer would like it. I never print out labels or put an invoice in as it seems like such a waste of paper, but I do always email the buyer after I've dispatched. The one book I bought on Amazon marketplace didn't have an invoice but it did have a printed label. Personally, I would prefer to get a delivery with recycled packaging. Once you've unwrapped it really doesn't matter unless the book gets damaged.

I've had a good week. Sold two books and a DVD (one book to Canada; I hope it doesn't cost much to send). I'm happy. :)

    Anybody any ideas on this.
I have a book I was waiting for April 24 when it was published, as Amazon only showed it for pre-order.
It's still being shown as pre-order and yet I have seen it for sale in Asda.
    Are Amazon that far behind?

Frankie - I have to say that I have never had that problem with amazon before, they are usually really good, I often get the item the very day it is released! Not really sure what's going on in this situation I am afraid.

Jiffy bag discussion - I buy mine from poundland and I really haven't found anywhere cheaper, even on ebay, I look all the time and even if you buy a box of 100 it's at least 18p each, in poundland they are 12p each.

Sales - my sales have finally began again, I received one last night and one this morning, phew...:j

I WANT A POUNDLAND WHERE I LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! -sorry for shouting:o

I had a nice result on Wednesday. A girl who knows I sell on Amazon phoned me offering me four bags of books if I wanted them. One bag, she said was full of mint books - they all turned out to be too heavy to be worth listing.

However the other three turned up some very interesting and obscure books, stuff like Reiki, Cognitive therapy and one of them was listed on Amazon at £57.00 by and American seller of course, but it was the only one.

Anyways I have sold five of the books already, not great amounts, eg. £4.00 but as I did not have to pay for them it is a good profit.

If the £57.00 one sells I would share the money with her though she was adamant she could not be bothered to sell them herself on Amazon or should I just keep my big mouth shut???;)

    Hi Larmy

    Great result

I know what you mean about sharing the profits though - I've got a friend who has some boxes of books for me and I have had to twist her arm so that I can give her something for them (I'd feel too guilty if I hadn't) - I've not had chance to check them through but if one of them was like one of yours (£50+) I think I'd really feel as though I should share the good fortune!

I'm not going to be sharing any good fortune at the moment until I actually sell something!!!!!

Aaargh it's all far too quiet!

After a worryingly quiet patch, we've sold a book this morning, but to a book shop! So I guess we underpriced it. Hey ho.

It did compare sensibly with other sellers' prices, and for once the postage will cover what it actually costs.

We've just taken off our list a heavy book that has suddenly appeared in other listings at 1p new. It will cost around £4 to post, so why would anyone be happy to make a loss?

I didn't get to Poundland today, I got four jiffys for 79p in Wilkinsons. I'll check out Poundland, if I find some I don't mind sending some to regular posters.

larmy - I'm in the same boat, there are two pound shops near me and neither has jiffy bags, I end up getting them from Viking when they're 3 for 2. Isn't nice when you have pals that want to off-load stuff on you? I have one that gives me the odd book, mainly penny ones for swapsies but it's all currency

wendy - I've seen big books with stupid prices before and they are in for a big shock if it sells, I've emailled some in the past, most seem grateful!

Well, I just sold a Tori Amos video for three quid - the only one I've listed yet.

Just wondering what other sellers do when they go on holiday. I'm going away for a couple of weeks in June and was wondering if I should delete all my listings and put them back on when I get back, seems a bit of a hassle.
