Also, regarding oveseas buyers... Do you guys sell a lot to overseas? I've listed all mine as UK only but am thinking of changing them if there's a good chance of selling abroad...
I've got an expensive book, which in the UK I'd have to post Special Delivery. Would it be worth offering it to overseas?

I would be grateful for some advice regarding one of my Amazon marketplace sales as I'm still a newbie to all this.
I recently sold a cordless handheld vacuum (on the 24th April). I checked to make sure it was working and in the condition I described (which was almost like new) before sending it by Royal Mail, I think by standard parcels. To my dismay the buyer has contacted me today with a return policy enquiry. The message reads :
Hello,
I recieved the Vacuum on Thursday last week, but when I took it
out of the packaging the first thing was the horrid smell. Then when I took
it out of the box it was all sticky, my husband said that the battery had
leaked everywhere. I was not very pleased. So I would like to return this
item and want my money refunded. Thankyou.
I'm 100% it was not like this when I sent it. I can only imagine it got damaged in the post. It quite a bulky item so not cheap to post.
What should I do?You have no respect for logic...and I have no respect for those with no respect for logic0 -
Unfortunately you have no option but to refund them. Basically a buyer can ask for a refund for any reason under the sun, even if there is nothing wrong with the item and they just changed their mind. Ask them to return it to you and refund the transaction.
If it has been damaged in transit, I think you should be able to claim compensation from the post office. Never come across this situation myself, but I expect someone who knows about the compensation side of things will be along soon. Not sure where you stand with the return postage, ie whether you have to refund that - and if so, whether the post office will cough up.
An ebay expert like Soolin might be able to advise.0 -

Last week a revision guide went onto pending and was unsold - I relisted at the end of the week as the 72 hours was up and I put it at a slightly higher price as people have obviously been buying these and it sold last night :j (that's 3 out of 6 I've got on there :j )
Then tonight a textbook I got very cheap because Tesco were inept and refunded me some of the money and let me keep the books - long story - has sold - just after I had had 11 emails saying things I had listed have gone unsold - so that's cheered me up - especially this one book was probably listed for as much as the 11 (which I've relisted again). I'm planning on taking all the things I have on amazon which are low price and have been on a while to my next car boot sale so I'll have space for the things my parents are saving for me.
Seem to have been getting 2 sales a week recently - at least 1 a week and have about 35 things on there - how does that fit the average stock:sales ratio?Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

dormouse - it's so long since I joined I'm sure that they will have changed things around but I don't recall any other post on these threads about items showing that can't be bought - I'd email them and query it.
You asked about offering overseas, it all comes down to the weight - that's the only consideration, if you look at the fees page with the books, scales and the RM website and work out which books will have the postage costs fully paid for in the allowance they give you - after a while you get to be able to just look at a book and assess it's weight. You can have insurance cover for your expensive book if it sells overseas, it's either International Signed for or Airsure, this will cost you around £4.40 on top of the airmail costs so it might be worth it if it sells well.
kitkat - I don't think that I've ever sold a book to anyone that isn't a private individual so it looks like someone really wanted that book, but why didn't they look on amazon themselves?
vip -bargain - I'm afraid that purple was right, you have to ask for it to be sent back and then you refund, it seems really rough but we've had discussions on here before but the customer has the upperhand with this and can ask for (demand, I suppose) a refund for any reason but if I remember correctly they pay for the return postage.
kev trader - come back if you get stuck, good luck and hope you report a sale soon, we feed off newbies excitement!

Yorkielass - you seem to be doing better than our ratio of 50 books = 1 sale per week, this isn't very scientific, I posted my ratio and a few others said theirs was similar so it seems a reasonable yardstick for general use, I suppose up to Christmas it will be out of step because we all sell more and after Christmas there was much doom because we all sold less0 -
Hey I got an Amazon sale yesterday - my first for 10 days!!!
However, it was for a book which I had delisted 3 hours previously because it had sold elsewhere!
I hadn't had the listing ended email and didn't really worry because sometimes they arrive and sometimes they don't.
Right I am now off to trawl the local charity shops to try and find another copy - I'm not very hopeful as there aren't many around. I feel an apology and refund coming on this afternoon!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0
