Thanks for your swift response Apprentice Tycoon. I will do a search tomorrow, had a quick sneaky look this afternoon and was a bit put off by the 'big sellers'. I'm a little fearful at trying new things, it took me months to pluck up courage re trying to sell on Ebay although I have been a Buyer for 2 years! I'll let you know how I get on because I would love to join your club, it seems such a friendly place! The £2.00 Savers Club = £130.00 (Started Feb.06 -saving for a dream - to visit Thailand again!)0

jeannie, don't be put off by the big boys, everyone is entitled to sell on amazon, just take a leap of faith - we're all going to hold your hand if you get stuck.
By this time tomorrow you can have all your books listed (it takes about 2 minutes for each one) and you might even have a sale too.0 -
jeannie, don't doubt yourself-just do it! it's FAR easier than ebay, and if you do a TEENY bit of research, you stand to make just as much, if not more.
GO FOR IT!!!!!The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

jeannieb3 wrote:I have "trawled " through this thread this afternoon and what interesting reading! I haven't sold on Amazon yet but am really tempted to try after reading all your success stories and enthusiasm.
The thing is "my books" haven't been mentioned, and I just wondered if you thought that I had a chance. I collect childrens annuals and have lots of replacements and some duplicates which I would love to sell on. I have just started listing a few items on Ebay, with a degree of success certainly 'some' interest and I have enjoyed doing it. Being a Newbie though it is time consuming and Amazon seems fairly straight forward and cheaper.
Has anyone any thoughts? I noticed was it Juno (? )saying she is listing childrens books ,are they paper backs or annuals I wonder? I don't think the majority of my surplus would fetch much and the postage is tight but would just about cover it, some books are heavier than others...
Any advice would be really appreciated
Jeannie
And they must all be in really excellent condition. I recommend taking photos of any puzzle pages before sending, as I had one person claim the puzzles were filled in when I knew they weren't! Luckily, they did change their story lots and refused to send any photos to prove it, so I didn't refund.
Most of my annuals are on Ebay at 99p and postage, so there's not really that much to be made. And one is cursed, as it's sold three times to different people each time, and each time they haven't paid! But it's just gone again, and they've completed checkout this time, so it's looking better.
The children's books I find best are the thin paperback very young children's ones, or the board books. The fiction for about 10+ seems to be all at 1p.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

I thought as much Juno re the annuals, thanks for your reply.
So if you have an annual of a year that isn't listed is there no facility to list it seperately?
Like wise if you have a book that isn't listed and no barcode am I unable to list that also? I ask this because I have an interesting medical book. Doing a search reveals nothing.
Looks like I may have to go down the Ebay route with my annuals, perhaps wait for a cheaper listing day but as has already been said lots of people do this also! Must say Amazon appealed to me yesterday after reading through this thread, the ease of it mainly. So the moral of the story if you are selling anything of any major value, is to check the postcode the buyer has provided against the address.
I'm going to wait to see if she has received the book when she goes back to work Tuesday and if not, will hit her with the incorrect postcode thing. I'm not going to automatically offer a refund yet though - she can wait a bit longer to allow the PO a bit longer to find her.
I expect that I have no option though but to refund her eventually if it still doesn't show, even though it's her fault. Bloody annoying.
Gosh, my lady emailed me today and without any input from me, told me that she'd spotted that she'd given me her work address and her home postcode. Can't believe how nice she was, basically said her mistake and not to worry she'd order it again from somebody else if it didn't turn up by the end of the week.
There are some good'uns out there!

jeannie you're right, if your book isn't in the database then you can't list it. If a book is so old that it doesn't have an ISBN number it can still be listed if it's in the database but if you couldn't find your medical book in the search then it's only going to go on ebay.
I think that you are really unlucky that some of your books are un Amazon-able, can you have a look at the boot sale or failing that a charity shop to find some to get you going?0 -
Does seem a pity that I can only list books that are already there!
I was feeling much more optimistic yesterday afternoon.....
Yes Apprentice Tycoon I have thought about car boots and your suggestion about charity shops is a good one, although over the last 20 odd years I have accumulated lots of books, some duplicates, others the results of replacements to improve my collection. Still looking for the elusive ones! Was hoping that the surplus would help to fund the missing ones we still need. I will persevere with Ebay and maybe I'll be lucky to move a few (thanks Juno and others for your words of encouragement) 99p a book is better than nothing at all!
Juno I had a similar thing happen with an annual, didn't sell and relisted, still didn't sell and I thought 'I'll give you one last chance before I return you to the box' put it on on the 15p listing day and I have 2 bids on it at the moment.... so fingers crossed.

I haven't sold anything yet and I started on the 29th... Boohoo!
Question: all my listing confimation emails say this at the bottom:
Note for first-time Amazon.co.uk Marketplace sellers: final authorisation
for your selling account is already under way. Until it is complete, your
listing may appear live on the site, but buyers will not be able to
purchase the item. As soon as your registration is complete, we'll an send
e-mail confirmation and your listing will be available for purchase.
Is this authorisation email they're talking about the same one as I received before doing any listings, the one welcoming me to Amazon and saying my application has been approved? Sorry, I'm finding this a bit confusing...0
