I want to do a knitting hamper for my mum, she already knits and does some crafty bits, but all her bits and bobs are so old, she has arthritis in her hands and I have read that bamboo knitting needles and crochet hooks are alot better for this, one question I have is what length do I get, there seem to be a few, and does it matter. If anyone knows please help.

If she knits small things eg baby clothes or toys I would get short 6inch or 8/9 inch ones for her i think they are great for small things, the bamboo needles are fantastic I have one pair but hinting for a set for xmas i love them they glide with the wool dont know iykwim but they are nice to knit with hth
  • rufusdog that is a fab hamper! I would love one of those instead of the **ap I know i will get again this year some people think some don't

This is a fab site. I've been using it for years. You order what you want and that is it. If / when you open an account, you earn 'book point's' for each book you buy which when you have enough, you can put towards other books, meaning you can get free books eventually.

They have lots of bargains and all the latest titles at a fraction of high street book sellers/shops.

You don't get tied into anything, you may just receive a catalogue once a month if you register to receive one, also odd emails, again if you sign up, neither are a problem as they are only ever once a month. You then just order as and when you want, as much or as little as you want. There are sometimes free postage discount codes floating about too if you search, but they usually offer free postage if you spend over £25 (easily done!!)

    I would definately recommend them.

As I have had most presents done and dusted since early September :D I haven't done much Christmassy recently but now feel the need to get on and get finished completely.

I have 4 retro sweetie boxes ready to fill and some sweets bought but want to leave that till nearer the time and 2 of the foodie hampers will need nice cheeses, again just before giving them so can only have everything ready to add those. Waiting for M&S vouchers to arrive from a survey site to finish off another one.

Going to my local mall today to get vouchers for 3 grandchildren to finish off theirs at least.

Did write cards this week though so will get stamps for those which get posted next week.

Decided to do a small chocolate lovers hamper for a friend for putting 4 of us up after a Christmas night out early December so need a container for that and more chocolate :D

Rotten weather today so a good day for the shops!
  • Oooh I'm feeling all Christmassy now! We've started planning the Christmas concert and parties at school and we'll be practising the Christmas carols from next week :D I love this time of year, I've got loads of Christmassy crafty activities planned for my class :j

I'm going to start wrapping presents this weekend. My parents and brother are visiting in a couple of weeks for my son's birthday party. I've asked them to take their prezzies back with them even though we'll be visiting at Christmas, as there just won't be enough room in the car. I've made my Mum a massive hamper and I don't want it to get squished so I think it's better they take it early. I'll still get to see them unwap everything at Christmas - that's the bit I love so much!

Anyone Christmas shopping today? I'm hoping to go tomorrow but I'm stuck indoors all day today. I might get a chance to make a test run of the rum truffles, just depends on how much my son wants to help (hinder!)

When I first thought about what to get my Bro and Sil I had some free bars of chocolate sent as a free trial from Seeds of Change and put them away, thought I would do their hamper around these. Guess what, the bars are still in the box upstairs as I forgot all about them so will dig them out one of these days when I am here on my own and enjoy! Thanks for the nice remarks about the hamper. I looked for nice labels really lol as I was impressed with how one of the hampers looked on the Harrods website. Mind you that one was about £225.

I think I am about done now, just want to get OH a couple of little bits to bulk his presents out and that will do. Next quilt is coming along nicely (its for next Xmas lol). It doesnt take too long to piece it all together its the hand quilting that takes the time but I enjoyed doing the last one especially now its colder and I can snuggle up under it while sewing.
