not sure where you're at but in scotland many of the old woolies were taken over by PoundMart and they too have an excellent selection of both kiddie art stuff and stuff for adults both artsy (classical) and crafty stuff for altered art/scrapbooking etc
so much so i really wish i had more time to do stuff like that again, i miss it and when i did have the time i didn't have access to a good selection of inexpensive supplies like they have in ours here0 -
Quilt looks amazing - well done. Takes lots of hard work. My mum has been making my husband and I a quilt for our bed since we got married - 11 1/2 years ago!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Thanks everyone for the remarks on the quilt.Quilt looks amazing - well done. Takes lots of hard work. My mum has been making my husband and I a quilt for our bed since we got married - 11 1/2 years ago!!
I bet it will be fabulous when it is done. I'm planning my next one already, will take a while to buy all the fabrics as I only use money earned on the internet to pay for things like this but they are going to be presents for next Christmas so plenty of time.
Have hospital appointment on Wednesday about my arm, they are going to do some tests to see if I have blocked nerves and if I do have it might mean another operation which will put the sewing off for a few months. Glad I managed to finish this one off before.
Nice to see some new people joining, welcome everyone and you're not mad thinking about Xmas lol, some of us ARE planning next year already xx0 -

loooooooooooovvvvvve the quilt rufus xxx wish I had the patience for doing stuff like that
well half term over but daughter is still at home with me...her surgeon wasn't happy about her going back to school for fear of someone bumping her arm or her falling on it, etc; (she's only four) so she is off with me until at least the 10th!!! and the baby is due on the 11th!!!!!!!!!!!! at least when baby comes hubby will have two weeks paternity off, and my lovely hairdresser did my hair on saturday, she squeezed me in so this colour will last til the new year now...so my hair's ready for baby coming and for christmas ha ha
Still have some bits and bobs still to buy but am extremely organised...amidst all of this I've been trying to sell our house and we haven't had anyone for about 9 months so sods law someone phones to see the house last saturday...but at least it looks like a show home now again and is therefore soooo ready for baby coming so that's a good thing. I'm now decluttering cupboards with a fine tooth comb now so I'm going to be so up to date on everything.
Need to :
purchase last of presents
Wrap all presents
Make tags and attach when wrapping
Make sure I've bought all batteries
make lists for things to be done later/nearer time
make a shopping list for friday for two weeks of meals to get delivered friday (hopefully before baby comes)0 -

Yay, Bat Biscuits! I made loads for our Trick or Treaters and a batch for my Mum cos she loves Bats. Luckily she also loves burnt biscuits so I gave her all the burnt ones!
We're definitely on the home straight xmas wise now halloween is over, I was in Tesco yesterady and they were busy clearing all the halloween stuff out and putting millions of Christmas choccies on the shelves in their place.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Great idea for the kids (and adults - a little money saving idea), save ur xmas cards, so when the festivities are over and ur head is acheing from the noise of that must have toy..... get the kids to cut gift tags from the front of the cards, and use a hole puncher, (just the one hole), and put a bit of curling ribbon in, instant gift tag, and makes the children involved in the process.
Ooo I do this every year with last year's Christmas cards!! Love doing it -one of the first 'wrapping' things I do each year! Also reminds me to write cards for people I may have forgotten off my list!! lol
Rufus - FAB quilt!!!
Made some jam this weekend! I first made some in the summer - raspberry jam - with 'pick your owns' from a lovely place in Hereford. it was my first time making jam and although it didn't quite set the way I wanted it, it tasted GORGEOUS and everyone loved it! About 2 months ago I was in ASDA and they had punnets of raspberrys reduced from £2 to 20p!! SO I bought 6 and froze them!! lol the following week, they had the same with blackberries! Well I finally got around to making jam out of them this weekend - didn't end up making too much fromt he amount I had unfortunately - 4 jars of raspberry and 4 of blackberry! Now I need to decide what to keep and what to give!! Yum yum.Mary - do you have a Poundland near you? If so they have loads of art stuff there. Not kiddie art stuff but more grown up things like proper sketching pencils, sketching books, canvases, watercolour paints and brushes etc.
Mary - The Works had lots of stuff in there too!
Scatty - not long now!!! I suddenly realised yesterday that my baby was due NEXT month, so must feel very close for you right now!!
