With all this postal strike stuff going on, whens the best time to post things off to make sure they get there in plenty of time for Christmas.
I'm thinking of the parcels I have to post more than cards really.................would it be too silly to post them off next week ?
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Well I just did my first hamper, well a wee wicker basket with a few goodies in it and ended up giving it to my Dad for his birthday instead of Xmas.
He was delighted with it! He said I shouldn't have gone to so much trouble, told him it was no bother and he deserved a nice gift.

The Magnificent Seven four DVD pack
    wee bottle of 7up
    wee tube of Pringles
    2 wee packets of fudge
    big bag of wine gums
    a handful of party poppers

Wrapped up with spotty cellowrap from Hobbycraft and a basket from poundstretcher, sorry never took a pic. Will take pics of the next ones I do.

Well if they all go down this well at Xmas I will be a very happy bunny! Have to get something different for my Dad though now...any suggestions?

I'm not sure that I would at the moment - seems to me there'll be a big backlog of stuff lying around in the depots, and the risk of parcels getting lost or mislaid might well be higher than usual. I think I'd give them a good few days - if not a week - after returning from a strike before posting out parcels, timing it so that they get delivered before the next round of stoppages.

Try sending by DHL - check out prices - might be cheaper than Parcelforce.

Went to Trago Mills today (fab shop in Devon /Wales, sells everything at discounted prices) and got some great baskets for hampers that I've been inspired (by threads on MSE) to make for next Christmas! Well, if I'm doing home made (which I am) then it will take me all year to fill them!!!!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Hi All

Well had a semi productive day yesterday - managed to get my nieces finished and got a gift bag to put all there stuff in (1 each) so my nieces are both now officially done its just a case of wrapping and putting things in their bags now plus when I got little ones PJS in Ethol Austin I got a barbie tell the time book at half price so think that will go in the oldest and the youngest can have pictures for her wall.

Also made a start on my dads - getting him a make your own wine kit eventually so yesterday I picked up a bag of corks and a corker fro him - the kit is only £19.99 and god knows how much the bottles are. I will find my book of saving stamps at some point though - think i might have a mass clear out tomorrow because I have about £5 on there so far but every little bit helps!

So feeling better about it all now. Still need to do Xmas cards etc and the cross stitch is very almost finished! Should be completed by Wednesday Im hoping!
    Time to find me again

Are you near a Wilkinsons? They do bottles and other bits for making wine/beer etc and they are not dear to buy. Saw the bottles in there the other day but cant remember how much they were xx

Well, what was meant to be a 7 hour shift yesterday turned into a 13 hour one (no much wonder they are promoting me hehe) so didnt get much done yesterday- did pick up a fabulous paperchase photo frame in a charity shop on my break though which is perfect for OH's sister.

Day off today and have forbidden them to ring me so spending the day christmassing finally! Currently making sure my book is up to date and sending oh to buy me miracle on 34th street (remake one- my ultimate christmas film) since mine has gone walkies :(

Starting to get a bit stressed about it all for some reason! And trying to figure out the best way to get my dad and stepmum's gifts out to new zealand (thankfully both have birthdays in december so just one big package)

The quilt cost about £60 altogether I think for fabrics and threads etc but seeing as I earned the money doing daily clicks and surveys it hasnt really cost me anything. All of my grandchildren want one each now so might do them a smaller one each for next Xmas (they saw it when I was round theirs doing some of it while baby sitting)
