Hi everyone, not posted for ages, been trying to keep up with posts but not much luck.
Can anyone help me? What is the poem that goes with standard pots of gold? have tried searching but no luck. Have just been given some great jars to use.
Thanks you x(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0 -
Hi everyone, Im new to this site and indeed to forums in general, Ive never posted anything before so I hope Im doing this right! Ive spent every spare minute Ive had over the last few weeks reading all 136 pages of this post! In fact most of the minutes have not actually been spare and should have been spent doing more worthy but boring tasks such as housework. I absolutely love Christmas but am not allowed to talk about it with any of my non-Christmas loving friends till at least mid-November so I am glad to see that I am not alone in enjoying thinking about it and preparing for it a lot earlier then that!
Sallys savings how about this ending?
I give to you this pot of gold
Before you open do as told
Make a wish and you may find
Not all coins are chocolate kind
They are to help you while you strive
To hit the roads and learn to drive
Hi Lunar Sea

rufus I hope you don't mind me pinching your idea of the pound coins in a pot of gold. OH said yesterday that he would really like the Jethro Tull 20 years DVD that came out a few years ago (he keeps saying he wishes he had bought it then). You can only get it on ebay and I don't really know what is a good price and would rather he bought it himself as I am sure conditions must vary so giving him the money for it is ideal. And the pot of gold is an even better idea of giving the money! thank you!!saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

cdsmiler - thanks............was going to order the frame from amazon so might as well get one of those cards to go with it from same place.
tq16 - if you look on the pots of gold thread I think there's quite a few variations of verses.

Afternoon everyone, glad the pot of gold idea has helped. I managed to get the £2 coins out of the tin this morning without damaging it. Took out the £50 for OH's pot and £40 for daughters phone (will pay the £40 into the bank I think and pay by card). Still a few left in the bottom of the tin to start me off again.
Was hoping to get up the town to get some chocolate coins but daughter isn't well so not been out. Asked the other daughter to have a look for me as she was going up but she didn't see any. Will have to have a look next time I get up there.
Spent the day cooking instead and managed to make a large cottage pie and a large sausage and onion pie which have been portioned up ready for the freezer so quite an MSE day.0 -
Hi all,
I ordered some favour tins with the clear lids off ebay today so i could make some 'Reindeer Spares' for my family, i got the idea from here: http://crafts.peteandkerry.com/?cat=8
I will be altering the tins but in a different way.
Also picked up some chocolate coins and Werthers for pots of gold, i just need a few more glass jars etc.
And am planning to make cookies in a jar next week but need to find the right kind of jar, so going to do some scouting before i get paid

Weight loss so far 2 stones 6lbs!! :j:j0 -
If anyone is looking for jar's cheaply I can't recommend the 1 ltr kiln jars from Asda, highly enough. We have used them for pickled onions, eggs, cabbage, journal jars and 'in a jar' recipes and for £1 each they look great (and aren't that expensive if you have run out of all the recycled ones you have been saving!)Natwest Card 27.06.10 (reduce every month) £267.63

Hows everyone doing, can't believe its nearly another santas challenge, had a good spending spree in Boots, very mse, total before discounts £206.00, then we had 3 4 2s, the £75 voucher (shut me up voucher), my points redeemed, only spent £12. We had literally a trolley full, so we've been very selfish and put them up for me, dd and mum.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
