Thanks, that type of hamper sounds good, I don't think it will be appreciated though. I need to accept that it's happening.

Wow can't believe I am nearly sorted for christmas and only in Aug:j On a tight budget this year as hubbie job changing=less money. Have got to be strict with myself though. Did hampers for people last year but think I spent more than by buying them one big pressie each!!!
I have got 40 pressies to do. Going to do pots of gold for most (thanks to those who mentioned these- sorry can't remember names), and adapt them slightly for some people adding some extra bits wrapped in gold paper. Also going to attempt the photobelts, not very artistic or crafty so maybe interesting.....
How do other people handle subject of spending less with other family members?- my sister in law always spends loads on my kids but i just can't afford to do the same this year?!

Think I'm almost there...........need to fill up various pots and snowmen tubes with marshmallows, joke pill bottles need filling with tic tacs, but just when I think I'm on top of things I see another idea on here that I want to have a go at..................lol (Long as it costs not a lot) Working on a tight budget as always:rolleyes:

Hello...could I take one of the spare seats at the back please? I've read bits & pieces but will have a proper catch-up sesh when there's less chance of something burning in the oven :p
I've been taking advantage of the offers in the week-end papers to get some food bits into storage for :xmassmile & the one for back-to-school stationary helped with bits for an early teen's prezz. I got a good deal on two legs of lamb back in June so one was used for No1 offspring's b'day & the other is in the freezer so that's the meat sorted :T
I used the double-up feature to get some much-needed pjs for No2 b'day in a couple of weeks, as the three of them plus assorted rabble are away a bit after that.
There's a couple of books, some named bits of clothing courtesy of the charity shops & a few odds & sods that got lost in the hub-bub last year so I'm almost a paid up member of your little clan already :D

Re the Gift In A Jar...folks made their own last year. Perhaps Rusty could help me out here, as I'm sure there was a dedicated thread with recipe ideas & little poems & free print labels etc.

BMF - if you type in Gifts in a Jar in the search bit at the top I think something will come up -you could also try 'ditties and verses' -there was a whole thread on those last year as well. Sorry I'm c**p at doing links else I'd help more.

My jars are being filled with marshmallows or bon bons this year -oh and one is filled with white bath bombs, the idea being they're jars of snowballs. Did that many pots of gold last year think everyones had one......:rotfl:
    Good luck

Anyone got any ideas what to get for little grandson - he'll be 2 and a half at Christmas and I've lost touch with the sort of things that age have and enjoy. Rusty suggested Aquadraw last year and he just loved it......hours of fun he had.............this year being that bit older I'm stuck again:confused:

Oh you naughty naughty people, why did you introduce me to the buy it here website!!! Ive just mentally spent about £300!!!
I wanted to get OH a guitar hero for his December birthday and they are loads cheaper on there so in all honest, Thanks x x

lauhen - how about a nappy cake? Pampers simply dry nappies are on a trial price of £5 for a huge pack you could easily make a nice looking but useful gift. My baby was due Christmas day and I would have loved a gift that was useful for baby to so a nappy cake or baby hamper like Mummy2mygirls said would have been perfect.

Hello All, I have been faithfully (ok pretty much religously) monitoring my email updates during frantic house move and it feels so good to be able to focus on Christmas again!

Although all are pretty much in planning stages I am def doing the following hampers:

    1. Couple of 'Work Survival' hampers for some workaholic friends and relatives which they should love and can incorporate their usual CD/Book request into this
    2. Baking hamper for little sister in law who is just learning the complexities of baking
    3. 'Magic' hamper for my little one and I am making him his own story book too of his adventures with his favourite toy as my special present to him.
    4. I am working on an 'partner overload survival kit' for my 2 x BIL and SIL (1 each so 4 gifts if that makes sense) to help them cope over holidays, they both have good senses of humour so should go down well.
    5. Night in at movies hamper
    6. Tea party hamper for my little girl which will mostly mean some sweeties and brightly coloured plastic cutlery and plates etc as she loves to 'feed' her teddies and us (she is only 16 months) so she should enjoy this as a little stocking filler.

Working on others, especially for my mother who is impossible to buy for but really deserves a treat and will be doing various foodie gifts too!

Very excited and daunted seeing it all there! But yay, its Christmas!!! (In best Noddy Holder voice)

Dont know if thats any gd for sons magic hamper - got one for dd.

thanks for mentioning M&S I love their bubble bath but only buy it on sale :p.

Have made a pink hamper this week for friends birthday on Sunday with bits and pieces picked up over the year. Plus printed off newspaper cover for her with her age on - if I'm not here after Friday you'll know she's done something nasty to me ;)

Also got a free wallchart from the Times showing premiership fixtures for 09-10 that will do for part of DS birthday plus the newspaper cover saying he's been signed to Man U - expect he'll want the new kit - has anyone seen them with offers anywhere?

Have I missed any challenges? Done freezer and school uniform. And of course several bars of chocolate :rotfl:

Hi Paddington, ur going well, next challenge 24th........ not long, thou there is a treat element in the mix!!
