Wig wrote:You're wrong they still do this wording, and I still manage to save extra money in this way at the tills, tell you what, on my next visit to Tesco I will find a product saying this just to please you ok?
They always said this before aswell, nothing new there. and they don't always mention the actual saving, infact mostly I would say they don't, not on the packs anyway.
I don't even know if I have the wording correct, but the difference is not in the wording as you put it. The difference is in a point of law. The type that annoys you is clearly saying "buy two for xxx" all they have to do here (legally) is make sure you don't pay more than xxx.
In the other example (the type you say are being phased out) the instruction is equally clear they are saying buy 2 and we will give you xxx...........and they do.
Sounds to me like YOU are contradicting yourself, on the one hand you say mulitbuy offers don't apply to reduced price items. And on the other hand you seem to agree that the example I give does give you money back at the till.
Rubbish, it's been a lot longer than that You're saying November 2005 right? I can proove that is not the case just by showing you some of my old posts here.
It makes no difference, if it says before that "buy two for xxx" then that is the clear as daylight marketing instruction, any subsequent mention of money being saved is OBVIOUSLY relative to the full price. ***AND*** subject to a minimum price of 5 pounds.
As I see it there are 3 types of multibuy savings
BOGOF
BTFXX
BTSXX
As previously mentioned. And you object to not getting the saving on the second type anymore. What I don't understand is why you want them to put a notice saying "multibuy offers do not apply to reduced price items" on the section. Which will have the effect of us not getting any savings from any of the 3 types of multibuys
Have you heard the phrase "cutting your nose off to spite your face" ?
You've contradicted yourself in this post!0 -
haveagoade wrote:I did'nt say BOGOF was being phased out, I said BOGOF is clearly defined and legally binding, and is not affected by sell by reductions..........so stop clouding the issue with this.Tesco should put BOGOF's as BOGOF savings on the bill, not multibuy, as it is NOT A MULTIBUY, you do not BUY 2 you buy one get one free!D'oh................Wig......methinks you doth protest far too HARD!0

BOGOF's are NOT multibuy, so my requirement of a sign stating
"MULTIBUY SAVINGS DO NOT APPLY TO REDUCED PRICE ITEMS" would have noe effect on these promotions.
BOGOF's are not multibuy, if TESCO apply the promotion as Multibuy they are wrong to do so, as you DO NOT BUY 2..........YOU "BUY ONE GET ONE FREE"0 -
If you buy 2 as they try to have it appear on the reciept then you should have another two free............another grey area on reflection....thanks for pointing that out!
Wig ....dont the words "spade hole digging stop" mean anything0 -
DO you know for a fact what ASDA's policy is on BOFOF with respect to reduced price items? It would be interesting to find out wouldn't it.
Anyway, you would, irrespective of BOGOF definition, still be stopping me from saving that pound on multibuys, which I do regularly find in the reduced section. I'd rather keep that saving, it's not my fault you can't be there to spot those offers when they are there, and not my fault you don't see these offers on the full priced items (which may or may not get reduced) when they are in promotion. The multibuy promotions do alpply to reduced goods, you want something you are not entitled to and because your not getting it you want me to not be allowed to get my bonus...because I have the common sense to know which offers will be worth buying "reduced".
Re: your words, no, those words mean little to me.0 -
I never shop at ASDA........so NO
If you are in Fact STILL getting these Multibuy savings on reduced price sell by items, then it indeed backs up my original complaint that it depends on which store you go to and who serves you and any number of factors which are unknown!
In my original case I asked the Tesco employee reducing them if I would get the multibuy saving as well.....she said yes.
I complained to Tesco consumer dept and I am told the official policy is..." No they (Multibuy money backs) don't apply, on ANY Reduced sell by's anymore"
So the staff don't know, consumers don't know......only You, Wig seem to know the definitive answer to this.......well good luck HAPPY shopping, for as long as it last's!0 -
And here is an old post of mine from August 2005 saying they had stopped this some time ago. Your letter said November 2005, as I said that is wrong. They had stopped it well before Aug 2005.

Well that's Tesco's date, Nov 2005, not mine, that what they told me........so they are wrong then, it was before.
Whats we can see has been happening and this proves it, its been a lucky dip till now!
With the record profits annonced by Tesco today, they are in the process of squezzing us a bit more....so it won't be long before the SQUEEZE you!0 -

NO, it depends on what the offer says. If you feel so strongly about it and you don't get the money back on the BTS 1pound reducies, though it seems you would have difficulty in finding these (even though I don't), then report them to trading standards.
They would have to display a disclaimer if they were to have a policy as you say. I don't want that because I want the reduction bonus I am currently getting. As I said next time I'm there I'll look out for an offer so you can see they still do it. And the next time I'm fortunate enough to find these items in the reduced section I will let you know what happened at the till.

As I said in previous post, the items to which you refer are being promoted in a different way now, yes there may be old stock around,as these things take time, but they WILL disappear.
I eagerly await your example of such a promotion...."Buy 2 save £1"
You can say spot the difference between them......but how many are being duped so you can have your little way!0
