*Certainly there are people *here* who do work fo Tescos, so you are 'technically' correct, but somehow I don't think that was what you were meaning to say.
Did I say you WIG???? I don't know what your occupation is.... but what I do know is......you spend your free time defending TESCO!
and as I keep telling you......Multibuy savings DO NOT apply to reduced price items as matter of TESCO policy......Tesco have told me in writing! Whether they ACTUALLY do in practice is hit and miss, nobody really knows till the till does its THING! If the multibuy reduction happens to apply its a mistake and its NOT their policy to apply!
......and Tesco are changing the wording of multibuys to weasel out of the original meaning!
"Buy 2 for £5" means on you bill the first item appears as full price then the second appears depending when it comes out of your trolley and is scanned (maybe half way down the bill) as full price....THEN a reduction appears as a multibuy!
The multibuy triggers a reduction ALLWAYS..... except when its reduced for sell by reasons!
They have recently done is added a till instruction via a bar code NOT to trigger this reduction.
Anyway why can't they sell them singley at the reduced price, and NOT continually try to SUPERSIZE ME.0 -
Quote from WIG
*
"buy 2 for 5 pounds" = No money back unless the cost is above 5 pounds
"buy 2 get 1 pound off" = 1 pound returned at the till (even for reducies)
*
This is what I mean by weasel words by TESCO.
Tesco have phased out....."buy 2 get 1 pound off" becuase yes it did apply to reduced sell by's
they now prefer to use...."buy 2 for 5 pounds" with no metion of the £1 off but they do mention a £1 SAVING, which is doubly confusing and a con! VERY WEASEL WORDS INDEED
Did you KNOW the subtle difference between "£1 Off" and "£1 saving".....its disgusting of TESCO to do this.
In effect the process of applying the £1 reduction of the multibuy at the till is EXACTLY the same, Just that the subtle change of the word "OFF" to "SAVING" is an EXCUSE............D'oh
Tesco make all that money and they resort to TRICKS like that!0 -
Did you not see my "If" ?you spend your free time defending TESCO!
Listen Charlie, if you buy a multi offer at reduced price and it says on the product (or on the shelf of the items normal location) "buy one get one free" or "Buy 2 get 1 pound off" and you don't get the money back at the till then you can report them to trading standards. And you might even be able to take it further yourself.
As for me at all the Tescos I've been to in South Wales, I do make sure the reduction is given to me at the till and IT ALWAYS IS GIVEN. But NOT on the ones that say "Buy 2 for 5 pounds" *unless they cost more than 5 pounds.
Put a scan of your letter up at imageshack.com........but even in writing they can still be wrong.0 -
Look Charlie......I said they have phased (or are Phasing) out the two example you give above.............D'oh!
From the start of this post I have said I am not referring to BOGOF so forget BOGOF's
Which brings us back to the Subtle difference between
"Buy 2 for £5"......."Save £1" Now being adopted by TESCO
and
"Buy 2 for £5"......."Get £1 off" Previously used by TESCO
They both had the same effect at the till triggering a multibuy saving of £1 untill last November .
The "Get £1 off" No longer appears on products....you have a look!
it now says "Save £1"
It doesn't matter that they included the ".....for £5" its the process the till goes through to give the saving, thats important......its the fact that you are buying 2 that really matter's and not at what ever price!
It all depends on what you put the emphasise on
Is it the "buy 2...."
or the ".....for £5"
it used to be the "BUY 2"
Tesco add the ".....for £5" and they get away with it!
yet the TESCO sales pitch is SUPERSIZE and SAVE....ie buy 2 and get the goodie of money taken off your bill in the form of a multibuy reduction.
A bit like a computerised till generated saving coupon, Tesco know that their customers see the saving in this way if not then why dont they tape them together and charge £5 without the messy multibuy reduction.0 -

In the other example (the type you say are being phased out) the instruction is equally clear they are saying buy 2 and we will give you xxx...........and they do.In effect the process of applying the £1 reduction of the multibuy at the till is EXACTLY the same, Just that the subtle change of the word "OFF" to "SAVING" is an EXCUSE
Sounds to me like YOU are contradicting yourself, on the one hand you say mulitbuy offers don't apply to reduced price items. And on the other hand you seem to agree that the example I give does give you money back at the till. They both had the same effect at the till triggering a multibuy saving of £1 untill last November .The "Get £1 off" No longer appears on products....you have a look!
it now says "Save £1"
As I see it there are 3 types of multibuy savings
BOGOF
BTFXX
BTSXX
As previously mentioned. And you object to not getting the saving on the second type anymore. What I don't understand is why you want them to put a notice saying "multibuy offers do not apply to reduced price items" on the section. Which will have the effect of us not getting any savings from any of the 3 types of multibuys
Have you heard the phrase "cutting your nose off to spite your face" ?0 -
I agree if it says "Buy 2 Get £1 off " you will get £1 off......but you wont find this promotion anymore!
OK Find one????????????
Tesco have instilled the phsycology of "buy 2" and save in preference to reducing them singley. Customers are Well aware of the promotion price each, and expect that when they are reduced for sell by reasons then the reduction should be in relation to the promotion price especially when the reduced section is stacked to bursting with these promotions!
Its the SUPERSIZE mentality of Tesco to price reduction, and it goes against the consumer in more ways that are immeadiately apparent!0 -
I draw your attention to my edited additions in the above post. most notably the last 12 lines.
I will find you one, it was only a few weeks ago I bought some finest ready meals with this promotion.
Your other comments are about the practice of multibuy promotions and I'm not interested in discussing that, but yes, I agree with you.0 -
Firstly Bogof is not a multibuy saving, they could or should say its a BOGOF on the bill.
I and most customers understand that "BOGOF" cannot be weaseled out of legally at the reduced section, thats why Tesco have to still give them.
"Buy 2 save £1" are being or have been phased out, and I and most customers understand that this also cannot be weasel out of on the reduced section.
You find one of these ("Buy 2 save £1", "Buy 2 get £1 off")for me?
"Buy 2 for £5" is a mish mash of a promotional wording DESIGNED by Tesco for a reason, and one that it allows them to legally weasel out of giving a saving on the reduced price sell by items.
This change has been grafted on to a marketing ploy and customer phsycology.0 -
In reply to that........
BOGOF is not multibuy:rotfl: what the beep is it then?
They have not and are not being phased out, you still see them.
The one you object to has been there for donkeys, the wording makes no difference, it is clear what the offer is and they abide by it.0 -
I did'nt say BOGOF was being phased out, I said BOGOF is clearly defined and legally binding, and is not affected by sell by reductions.
.........so stop clouding the issue with this.
Tesco should put BOGOF's as BOGOF savings on the bill, not multibuy, as it is NOT A MULTIBUY, you do not BUY 2 you buy one get one free!
D'oh................Wig......methinks you doth protest far too HARD!0
