Usual advice applies. Do not pay an up front fee for running a claim. If your ppi is over £2500 you should be looking for a claims company or a lawyer who uses access to justice and not charging you a fee at the back end.

Do it your self if your case is quite simple. There are plenty of template letters on the site to do it. If you do try it yourself and get turned down you have the option of the FOS or the legal route.

FOS will win you the compensation if you have a legitimate claim but remember that the FOS has a very limited criteria. It can only assist with the PPI issue.

There may be other issues prevalent within your loan that means that you could claim more than just the ppi. In such an instance the legal route may be a more successful way forward.

There may well be undisclosed commissions to the lender and/or the broker that you may be due back. The FOS will not assist in this area.

The OP isn't claiming PPI though, they are saying they were given money they didn't ask for, spent it and now want to claim it back, does your company deal with such scenarios then?

Nor will commission be involved in increasing a credit card limit, you really should read the posts rather than posting about what someone may claim for and in particular what your company could do for them.

I thought that too when I read the OP's post. It seems this has been posted on the wrong forum here. Its nothing about PPI.

I humbly apologise, I thought I was giving general advice on claiming, whether doing it yourself, using claims companies and lawyers or using FOS. I did this because a number of people had made varying comments about using claims companies and lawyers and why you should and should not use them in this particular thread.

As a claims man of 7 years experience I feel that I know enough about what is available to the public to use, to give a comment and advice. At no time did I advocate any specific claims company or any specific route.

By your tone you do not agree with people claiming money back when they have spent it. To a point I agree, which is why my company does not offer this service.

On the other hand do you think that it is equally ok for lenders to shaft the public and then claim the enormous profits from doing so in their accounts to make their share prices read better than they should?
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

Sometimes I do wonder about the MOJ and claims regulation and how much they actually look at these companies they are authorising to run claims companies.

  • Unfortunately I found out the hard way after paying them the £249.99 from my credit card. After trying to cancel within the 14 day 'cooling off period'......it turns out that none of the phones numbers can be connected and hey presto even the e-mail address bounces back ! Therefore it looks like they set up for a week getting in as much money as poss and then move on. PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THIS !!!!!

I have been told about this site called Tucan Claims w w w dot tucanclaims dot co dot uk) and i am wondering if anyone else had heard of it? I have searched all of this site and it has not been found.

I am not endorsing this website in anyway I am looking for some answers as i have been told that if the bank has increaced your credit limit on a credit card without you agreeing to it and you have then filled it up, this company will make sure that you dopnt have to pay back the extra - that it will be wiped off.

I can not believe that this is real, but at the bottom of their website they claim "Tucan Claims is regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of regulated claims management activity
it's registration is recorded on the website www dot claimsregulation dot gov dot uk Regulation no CRM 19883."

I hope someone can help set the record straight before my borther-in-law does something silly as they charge £250 "admin fee"!!

They contacted me, it seemed too good to be true and it appears that that is the case. No big supprise there. I'm not great with the whole claim / money management in general so I was tempted but thanks to the sane folk on here I have come to my senses and may even try to do it myself, I'm just lacking a little confidence.
