I have been told about this site called Tucan Claims w w w dot tucanclaims dot co dot uk) and i am wondering if anyone else had heard of it? I have searched all of this site and it has not been found.
I am not endorsing this website in anyway I am looking for some answers as i have been told that if the bank has increaced your credit limit on a credit card without you agreeing to it and you have then filled it up, this company will make sure that you dopnt have to pay back the extra - that it will be wiped off.
I can not believe that this is real, but at the bottom of their website they claim "Tucan Claims is regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of regulated claims management activity
it's registration is recorded on the website www dot claimsregulation dot gov dot uk Regulation no CRM 19883."
I hope someone can help set the record straight before my borther-in-law does something silly as they charge £250 "admin fee"!!

Just because it is registered doesn't mean they will be able to do what they said.
Never use a claims company.
Plus, you spent the money on the credit card so you should pay it back.0 -

they said it could take 3 months
more like 6-12 with most. Some longer. Claims companies have been told to stop saying its a quick process.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
In my personal opinion, it does not take long to put a reclaim letter together, and paying out for a few stamps, if there is a claim and a spare few mins, it could be well worth having a go, I think my quickest was 4 weeks, that was getting the letter prepared in my own words with my reasons, one stamp used to reclaim, they agreed and I paid out for one more stamp to sign and accept, so pretty good going that one.
However, it can take a little while if going as far as the FOS, but still all free.;)
I do understand that some cases can be rather complexed as well which one of mine did take 14-15 months with the FOS, but it went in my favour. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Claims management companies exist only to make money and sell your claim onto a law firm.
Either go direct to a law firm or do it yourself (template letters on this site etc). Why on earth would anyone pay a 'middle man' to sell your business on to a law firm.
Most of these 'claims management companies' are very misleading in their advertising (for example 'We can write off most of your debt/we can re- claim your bank charges'). They do not do any of this - they sell your case onto a law firm who will do it for you.
I used to work in a law firm and 'claims management companies' are a complete nightmare - they would often try to sell us false claims or claims that had already been sold on to other law firms.
Although they may be regulated by the ministry of justice - STAY CLEAR OF THEM!!!0 -
You don't need a claims management company to reclaim PPI. You can do it your self and anything that you can't do your self you would be better off going to a solicitor than to a claims company.
Sophiew I think if you want to advertise your company you shouldn't be doing it here. If you want to represent your company I believe you have to be authorised to do so by this site.0 -
Okay guys,
i work for tucan claims in the bristol/aztec west office.
We are a ligitamet company and we have helped alot of people claim back miss sold payment protection insurance and unenforcable loans.
I took on 150 clients last month and 95% of cases were successful.
dont doubt us until you try, our fee is fully refundable and you have a 14 day cooling off period so u wont loose out if you change your mind.
The reason we can write off credit cards if limit was increased without signing a new document is because its the bank who need to invite you in to see if you can afford it and therefore if they didnt we can write the balance off!
FSA RULES.....
So Hope thats cleared it up for you.
Competition time. How many spelling mistakes can you spot? Please post your answers.0 -

So arent there just one or two dodgy law firms too?
Many charging contingency (charging a percentage of the claim) when they could be using access to justice (fees levied to the lender)?I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -

Usual advice applies. Do not pay an up front fee for running a claim. If your ppi is over £2500 you should be looking for a claims company or a lawyer who uses access to justice and not charging you a fee at the back end.
Do it your self if your case is quite simple. There are plenty of template letters on the site to do it. If you do try it yourself and get turned down you have the option of the FOS or the legal route.
FOS will win you the compensation if you have a legitimate claim but remember that the FOS has a very limited criteria. It can only assist with the PPI issue.
There may be other issues prevalent within your loan that means that you could claim more than just the ppi. In such an instance the legal route may be a more successful way forward.
There may well be undisclosed commissions to the lender and/or the broker that you may be due back. The FOS will not assist in this area.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

Original post seems to have disappered now, but based on 20 working days in a month, that works out at just over 7 a day (or about one an hour) - either fast workers or have lots of template letters that they send out on a whim (they cant have had time to read all the bank documents)
Well that quote bit worked well!!No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
Proud to be a Friend of Niddy.
no idea what my nerdnumber is - i am now officially nerd 229, no idea on my debt free date0
